EFCC Reveal Identities Of Yahoo-Yahoo School Owners, Students Arrested In Edo

In its bid to fight criminality in the country, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said it arrested no fewer than seven suspected internet fraudsters in Edo State last Tuesday.

The development was confirmed in a statement made available to newsmen by the Benin Zonal Command of the ant-graft agency, Naija News reports.

In the statement, EFCC said its operatives arrested two yahoo-yahoo (internet fraud) school owners and seven others suspected to be their students during a raid in their location in the state.

The anti-graft agency explained that criminal suspects were running an Internet Fraud Coaching Centre (a.k.a HK) in Benin City.

It identified the names of the yahoo school owners as Osagie Ogiemwonyi and Onukwugho Favour.

The EFCC said the other seven were arrested at the centres following actionable intelligence worked upon by the commission.

The identities of the seven suspects were revealed as Destiny Ohikwugbe, Chata Okoro, Ighodaro Omede, Ehigie Idemudia, Lawrence Daniel, Raymond Ogiemwonyi Oghosa and Henry Philip.

Items recovered from the suspects according to the Commission include a Mercedes Benz GLK, Lexus 350, phones and laptops, Naija News understands.

Woman Robs Bank With Toy Gun To Pay For Sister’s Cancer Treatment

A Lebanese woman identified as Sali Hafiz has reportedly robbed a bank in Beirut with a toy gun.

The suspect streamed a live video on Facebook of her raid on a Beirut branch of Blom Bank as she robbed thousands of dollars to pay for treatment for her ill sister.

She said: “I am Sali Hafiz, I came today… to take the deposits of my sister who is dying in hospital.”

“I did not come to kill anyone or to start a fire… I came to claim my rights.

This development is coming in the wake of other robberies of banks where the savings of depositors have been devalued and trapped in banks for almost three years amid dwindling economic fortunes.

The woman’s action has been applauded by many in beleaguered Lebanon.

Speaking in an interview with a Lebanese broadcaster after the raid, Hafiz said she managed to free about $13,000 of the $20,000 she said her family had deposited adding that cancer treatments costs $50,000.

She also told media outlets that she used her nephew’s toy pistol for the hold up.

An AFP correspondent present at the scene said Hafiz and her accomplices reportedly fled through a smashed window at the back of the bank before security forces arrived.
