The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) between July and September 5, 2022, received not less than 431 complaints from Nigerians against its security operatives.

Naija News learnt that NPF has resolved 304 complaints with 81 punishments awarded to police officers found wanting.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi revealed this in a document while speaking on the efforts of his ministry to curb police officers from misbehaving.

According to Dingyadi, there is a need for police officers to be professional in the discharge of their lawful duties.

Dingyadi said the need to be professional in their duties had seen the ministry look into complaints against operatives and pass judgement on their actions.

He further stated that seven police officers out of the 431 complaints received have been dismissed for severe infractions, while 304 of these complaints have been resolved with 81 punishments awarded.

The minister noted that 40 officers are undergoing internal disciplinary processes to determine their innocence or otherwise.

Dingyadi while speaking on other issues apart from sanctions said the PPCC in 2021 embarked on sensitisation campaigns targeted at the six geo-political zones, adding that the South-West, South-South, North-Central and North-West, had been covered while that the North-East was slated to hold on September 9 in Bauchi.
