2023: Aggrieved Northern APC Christians Didn’t Endorse Peter Obi - Dogara, Others

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has said the Forum of Northern Christians in the All Progressives Congress (APC) will continue to oppose the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

Dogara stated this on Tuesday in Abuja after a closed-door meeting with all state chairmen of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) from the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The former speaker said the forum would not back down on its position regarding the same-faith ticket, adding that it will continue to fight for justice.

Dogara, however, said the forum would meet with all the presidential candidates across party lines and come up with its preferred candidate.

Those in attendance at the meeting include Dogara, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal; Adamawa Senator, Elisha Abbo; former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba and all Northern CAN chairmen.

Confirming the meeting in a tweet via his verified Twitter page on Tuesday, Dogara wrote: “#NigeriaDecides2023: The fight for justice continues. Today (yesterday), we held a consultative meeting with Christian leaders from the 19 Northern States and the FCT on the pan-Nigerian platform to adopt in 2023.”
