The camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike is expected to meet next week over its move to remove the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu from the party.

This is coming after the camp of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar insisted that Ayu would remain in office.

The campaign spokesman of Atiku’s presidential campaign committee, Charles Aniagwu while speaking on Arise TV on Saturday said the party is exploring other means to resolve the crisis in the party.

According to Aniagwu, if Ayu is removed from office, the deputy Chairman (North) would have to take over with respect to the constitution of the party.

Aniagwu noted that this will not solve the crisis in the party with Governor Wike’s camp requesting for a Southerner as Ayu’s replacement.

Governor Wike on Saturday in his reaction to keep Ayu in the office said no matter of confidence vote by the National Executive Council of the party will keep the Chairman in office.

The Rivers State governor made this known at the grand reception for over 90 defectors from various political parties into the PDP at the Isaac Adaka Boro Park in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a source that spoke with Daily Sun on Sunday said Governor Wike’s camp will meet next week to decide on their next line of action.

The source said, “the group will meet next week. Most likely the venue will be Abuja. But there have been many peace overtures to Wike and his men, after the NEC meeting.”
