I Would Have Fled Nigeria If Atiku Had Won 2023 Election – Wike

Award winning journalist Babajide Kolade-Otitoju has warned Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike against dividing the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Naija News reports that the crisis in the PDP began after the primaries which produced Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the party.

The rift deepened after Atiku appointed Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa as the vice presidential candidate if the party.

Wike and his supporters demanded that the party’s national chairman Iyorchia Ayu must resign if peace is to be returned to the party.

However, Ayu has categorically stated that he will not give up his position until his tenure is complete.

PDP has had a tradition of the Party’s Chairman coming from the South if the Presidential candidate of the party is from the North and vice versa.

This is the reason Wike is insisting that Ayu must give up his position.

PDP has, however passed a vote of confidence on Ayu despite Wike’s agitations

Sharing his thoughts on the situation via a post on Saturday’s edition of “issues with Jide”; a TV programme which holds every Saturday at 6pm on TVC news channel, the journalist reminded Wike of the popular African proverb which states that a tree cannot make a forest.

He argued that if the governor continues with his agitations he might end up getting himself embarrassed.

He said: “just as a tree does not make a forest, so does One man does not make a Party. Wike has been managing to make things go his way in the PDP but with the way this one is going, he might get himself embarrassed and force the PDP to do without him in the forthcoming general elections.”
