DSS Permitted To Detain Tukur Mamu For 60 More Days

Family members of an aide to a controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abubakar Ahmad Gumi, Tukur Mamu have reacted to the invasion of the Department of State Services (DSS) on his residence.

Naija News had earlier reported that the secret police in the early hours of Thursday invaded Mamu’s house in Kaduna.

It was also gathered that operatives of DSS also stormed his office after reading his house.

The family members in their reaction claimed that they are in trauma due to the DSS invasion of their residence.

In their reaction, the family members told Daily Trust that over 50 DSS operatives in about 20 vehicles laid siege to the home and office of Mamu during the invasion.

The family member who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “About 50 heavily armed DSS personnel stormed the house around 12:30 am in a commando style and turned the house and office upside down as they frisked the entire compound.

“We were awakened by the pandemonium that announced the arrival of the officers who came in a large motorcade and armed to the teeth.”

The source said the DSS operatives did not show search warrants before raiding Mamu’s house and office.

According to the source, nothing incriminating was found during the raid, adding that DSS forced one of Mamu’s children to sign a document they prepared without allowing him to read the content.

The family member added, “They didn’t show us any search warrant and entered the rooms of the wives of the publisher, and completely frisked them against Islamic rule.”
