Tension As Gunmen Kill Three Policemen In Enugu

Three personnel of the Nigeria Police Force in Enugu State were reportedly killed last night by a yet-to-be-identified group of gunmen.

Reports obtained by Naija News on Thursday morning said there was tension at the Chime Avenue, New Haven, Enugu North Local Government Area of the state last night after gunshots were heard.

A source disclosed to Daily Post that the gunmen who were driving in a sienna car overtook the Hilux van of the policemen operatives and opened fire on them.

Three of the officers according to the source were gunned down in the ambush.

The Enugu State Police Command, however, is yet to release an official statement on the incident, Naija News reports.

I Joined Armed Robbery To Buy Baby Items For My Pregnant Wife — Suspect 

One Sunkanmi Adeoye who is currently in police custody confessed that he delved into armed robbery over frustration to get baby items for his pregnant wife as she is about to deliver their first child.

The suspect, Naija News understands was arrested in Lagos alongside his accomplices, Kamurudeen Kadiri, aged 30 and Owoseni Adekunle, 27.

41-year-old Adeoye who was interrogated at the force headquarters in Lagos regretted his actions saying it was his first time in a robbery and his wife is about to bear them a child.

The suspect who confessed to being a photographer said he was introduced into the gang by one Aro who had assured him that they will get a lot of money from the operation.

Unfortunately for Adeoye, they all met their waterloo as they eventually landed in the hand of security operatives while trying to sell parts of a vehicle they had stolen.

In his word, Adeoye said: “Aro told me we were going for a robbery operation and I agreed to be part of it because he assured me that I will get money from it. I am a photographer but I needed help.

“I didn’t know them before the robbery operation. This was our first child; my wife doesn’t know that I have been arrested.”
