Details Of Atiku’s Meeting With Ex-Presidential Aspirants Emerge

The details of the meeting between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and ex-presidential aspirants of the party have emerged.

Naija News reports that the former Vice President met with the ex-presidential aspirants at his Abuja residence on Wednesday to discuss some issues relating to the party.

However, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim; and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, were all absent missing from the meeting.

Media mogul, Dele Momodu, former managing director of the now-defunct FSB International Bank; Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, the only female aspirant, Tariela Oliver, and Charles Ugwu all attended the meeting.

In a statement released on Thursday by Atiku’s media aide, Abdurasheed Shehu, the former aspirants have pledged their full support and loyalty to the candidacy of the PDP presidential flagbearer.

Shehu said Hayatudeen stated that they came to congratulate Atiku for his victory at the primary election and to wish him well in the forthcoming general elections, with the hope that Atiku will make it to the seat of power.

He also quoted Momodu as saying that all the ex-presidential aspirants must come together to ensure victory for the party in the 2023 presidential election.

Shehu said the media mogul called for the intervention of all the stakeholders in the crisis rocking the party and appealed for everyone to come together and support the party to victory.

According to Oliver, the former aspirants have started reaching out to all their colleagues with the hope that everyone will come on board to deliver the party in all the elections.

She said the PDP is one united family and assured Nigerians that whatever is happening within the party is a family affair which will ultimately be resolved amicably.

In his response, Atiku expressed his gratitude for their congratulatory visit and commended them for accepting the outcome of the presidential primary.

Atiku assured them that he was ready to work with them as partners in order to rescue Nigeria from bad governance and by ensuring victory for the PDP in the 2023 general elections.

He stated that the project of reclaiming the country was not a one man’s job but a collective responsibility, stating that he looked forward to having a discussion with the aspirants as the campaign begins this month.
