1. Details Of Buhari’s Meeting With Poland President Emerges

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari and his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Duda met on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Naija News had reported earlier that Duda arrived at the Villa at about 10:30 am and was given a warm welcome with a guard of honour.

After a brief reception, Naija News reports that the two leaders came to terms and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Agriculture to strengthen collaboration between both countries in the sector.

Interacting with journalists at the front porch of the Presidential Villa in Abuja shortly after the closed-door session with Buhari, Duda said the MoU becomes necessary in the light of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and the consequent food crisis.

He was optimistic that some good will come out of the MoU.

2. 2023: Nobody Can Buy Me – Gov Wike

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday warned that he can not be bought by anyone.
Wike’s statement is coming amidst the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The PDP Governor in his statement challenged anyone to show him projects executed by the Federal Government in the state.

Wike further stated that the people of Rivers State since 1999 had given the PDP the highest vote.

The Rivers State Governor charged states in the country that had gathered more votes for PDP to come forward.

Governor Wike revealed what candidates as to do to gain the support of the Rivers people ahead of the 2023 general election.

3. 2023: Only Nigerians Who Love Suffering Will Vote APC – Abdullahi

A former Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, has said only Nigerians who love suffering will allow the All Progressives Congress (APC) to continue in power in 2023.

Abdullahi stated that the ruling party has ruined the country and Nigerians have suffered enough under the Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial candidate for Kwara Central stated this in an interview with journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

Abdullahi said the APC has failed the country in all indices of development and Nigerians must be careful not to return it to power across all levels.

The former minister said nobody should even be talking about APC again after failing in different sectors, adding that the next election is going to be the PDP and any other party.

4. Wike Reveals Why Atiku Was Defeated In 2019

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has disclosed that chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) assisted President Muhammadu Buhari to beat former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in 2019.

The Rivers governor made this known on Tuesday during the commissioning of the Rivers State University’s campus in Etche, Rivers State.

According to Wike, he was approached by Buhari’s team to join in the negotiation, but he stood his ground to deliver Rivers State for PDP.

He further maintained that most of them who made sure PDP never survived since 2015, are the ones saying all sorts about him now.

He stated that no amount of intimidation would cow him into supporting a cause that is not beneficial to the people of Rivers State.

5. Wike: APC Sends Strong Warning To Ayu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu against spreading false narratives about the party.

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka issued a cautionary statement on Tuesday to this effect.

Naija News recalls that Ayu had earlier denied a statement attributed to him which states that the Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike could not father a child.

In a statement on Saturday, the former Senate President distanced himself from the social media posts which quoted him as demeaning Wike.

Reacting to Ayu’s response, the APC said that the PDP chairman alleged that mischievous persons from the ruling party were planting such stories in the media and stoking the feud between him and Wike.

Morka argued that Ayu’s mindset was the reason the crisis in the PDP continues to worsen under his watch.

6. Minister Of Education, Adamu Speaks On Ending ASUU Strike

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, says the Federal Government has done its best to resolve the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Adamu made this during the meeting with Vice-Chancellors and Pro-Chancellors of Federal Universities at the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Abuja on Tuesday.

The minister said he had met with ASUU and other unions on several occasions with possible facts, figures, and with absolute sincerity in order to put an end to the industrial action.

Adamu said the government and ASUU had reached an agreement on the demands of the sticking lecturers, noting that one major issue the two parties could not agree on was the issue of the law on no work, no pay.

The minister said he had been in a dark period of personal anguish and internal turmoil since the strike began on Monday, February 14, 2022.

He, however, said the government and ASUU will continue to discuss until the strike is called off and public universities are reopened.

7. 2023: Those Who Destroyed PDP Are Calling Us Boys – Wike

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday claimed that the people who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) destroyed the party.

According to Wike, the same people who destroyed the party are the ones calling him and his allies boys.

Recall that the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu had described the people calling for his resignation from office as children.

Ayu further stated that he would not allow the people to destroy the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The camp of Governor Wike, which includes the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, and Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu have been calling for Ayu’s resignation.

Wike, however, thinks the people calling him and his allies children are responsible for the destruction of the main opposition party.

The Rivers State Governor noted that the boys stayed behind and kept the party working when others left.

8. Court Grants Ogun Assembly Speaker, Oluomo N300m Bail

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State has granted bail to the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo.

Delivering a judgement on Tuesday, the presiding judge, Justice Daniel Osiagor granted Oluomo bail in the sum of N300m with two sureties in like sum.

Naija News reports that the Speaker was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged N2.5bn money laundering charges.

During the hearing, the counsel for the EFCC, Rotimi Oyedepo, had told the court that he would leave the issue of bail solely within the discretion of the court.

The counsel to the Speaker, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), on his part asked the court to admit his client to bail on liberal terms.

In granting bail to the Speaker, Justice Osiagor held that one of his sureties must be not less than a level 16 officer in the Civil Service while the other must possess landed property within the court’s jurisdiction.

The judge granted the second and third defendant bail in the sum of N100m with two sureties also in like sum.

9. After Dino Melaye, Daniel Bwala, Atiku Appoints Another Campaign Spokesman

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has appointed Charles Aniagwu as his campaign spokesman ahead of the 2023 general election.

Naija News reports that Charles Aniagwu is the current Commissioner for Information in Delta State.

This was made known in a press statement on Tuesday signed by Atiku’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe.

Aniagwu’s appointment takes immediate effect, with the responsibility, among others, to keep the electorate up to speed with happenings in the presidential campaign.

Aniagwu is a veteran broadcaster with over two decades experience in the media industry.

He joins other appointees who had been announced earlier as spokespersons to the campaign.

10. Police Arrest Man In Connection With Terrorists Attack On Tegina, Niger State

A 30-year-old man allegedly connected to the deadly attack by terrorists in Tegina town of Niger State months ago has been arrested.
The State Police Command confirmed the arrest of the suspect in a statement made available to newsmen in Minna, the state capital, Naija News reports.

It could be recalled that on 14th November 2021, some gun-wielding terrorists stormed Tegina town in a broad daylight shooting sporadically and abducting at least four persons into Kagara forest, including one Aminu Garba and others.

The command at the time deployed a combined team of the tactical squad comprised of the anti-Kidnapping unit, FIB tactical squad and vigilante members to the forest.

As a result of the sustained operational pressure on the terror group, two victims later escaped from their captivity while the other two were held captive including a middle-aged man identified as Aminu Garba.

Weeks later, the terrorists reportedly killed the remaining two victims after collecting a ransom of thirteen million naira.

However, the state police command through its Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun revealed in Minna on Tuesday that on 29th August 2022, the command acted based on technical intelligence and arrested one Nasiru Musa, 30, in connection with the Tegina attack and killing of the victims.
