2023: Why Tinubu Attended Kukah’s 70th Birthday - Shittu

A former Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, has revealed the reason the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, attended the 70th birthday celebration of the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah.

Naija News recalls that Tinubu and top dignitaries including his running mate, Kashim Shettima; Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and others trooped out last week Wednesday to celebrate Kukah on his birthday celebration.

In a statement on Sunday, Shittu said Tinubu attended Kukah’s birthday celebration to show critics of his presidential ticket that he is not a religious bigot.

The former minister commended Tinubu for attending Kukah’s birthday celebration despite the backlash from the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Shittu stated that Tinubu’s presence and brilliant delivery at the occasion had inevitably shamed and silenced the critics calling for Christians to vote against his candidacy.

He said the former Governor of Lagos was the cynosure of all eyes at the event, refuting claims that his attendance at the birthday celebration was a subtle attempt to reach out to Christian political leaders.

According to him, his principal would not hide under the guise of any religious smokescreen to reach out to relevant politicians who could aid his campaign.

He said, “Of course, you saw how Tinubu became the centre of attraction at Bishop Kukah’s 70th birthday. He has taken the shine off those calling for Christians to vote against his candidacy.

“Also, I don’t think he visited them because they are Christians. He met them in the capacity of former presidents.
