Aisha Yesufu Knocks El-Rufai Over Postponement Of Solidarity March For Peter Obi In Kaduna

Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu has slammed the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, for the disruption of the solidarity march by Labour Party (LP) supporters over the weekend.

Naija News recalls that a supporter of the LP candidate had claimed that two million people will march for Obi in Kaduna, following similar marches for the presidential candidate in Cross River and Nasarawa State.

The Obi supporter with the username Abdullahi Umar Zarma wrote, “Kaduna Two Million March for Peter Obi.”

Reacting to the tweet, El-Rufai mocked the proposed two million march for the former Governor of Anambra State in the North West state.

In a twist of the event, the LP Youth leader in Kaduna, Austin Aniagu, issued a statement last Friday, stating that the two million march has been postponed due to security advice.

Also, a member of the Obi-Datty Presidential Campaign Organization, Nana Sani-Kazaure, accused El-Rufai of using the police to intimidate Obi’s supporters during their solidarity march at the weekend.

Taking to her verified Twitter handle on Tuesday, Yesufu berated the Kaduna Governor for using the excuse of insecurity in the state to stop the LP event.

She stated that El-Rufai and his government didn’t want to admit there was any security challenge in the state until it escalated.

He wrote: “It is now productive for Nasir El Rufai @elrufai to talk about the insecurity in his state. What better reason to stop people’s rallies and campaigns than to use the excuse of security concern?
