Dr Kayode Olusanya has been appointed as the new Head of Religious Studies Department (HoD) at the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun in Ogun State, following the suspension of the former HoD accused of abusing the office.

Naija News understands that Dr. Olaniran Balogun, a senior lecturer at the varsity, was heading the department until a warrant of arrest was issued against him over alleged misconduct which include demanding for gratification and sex-for-marks, among others.

“A warrant of arrest has been issued for his immediate arrest”, read a notice by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) while giving an update on Balogun’s case.

Balogun has been asked to immediately report himself to any of the ICPC state offices in Lagos, Ibadan or the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, the varsity has stated that Balogun’s suspension would remain in effect until he is cleared of all the alleged misdeeds.

“He has been placed on interdiction until he clears himself of the various allegations levelled against him by the ICPC”, Deputy Registrar, Media and Corporate Relations of the varsity, Gbenga Omilola said.

Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwole Banjo, Omilola said Dr Olusanya is now the newly approved HoD.

TASUED promised to do all within its powers to protect the good name and image the university has built for itself over the years.

Omilola added that the university would not condone any act of indiscipline and corrupt practice by any of its staff.

The management advised Balogun “to immediately honour the invitation of the ICPC to clear himself”.
