President Buhari Makes Fresh Appointment Four Days Before Leaving Office

In a bid to relieve herdsmen of their losses due to banditry activities in Katsina State, the federal government has released the sum of N6.25billion for the establishment of cattle ranches across local councils.

The development was confirmed in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday, August 29, 2022, by Deputy, Governor Mannir Yakubu.

Naija News reports that Yakubu made the disclosure during the Ranch Stakeholders’ Development meeting in Katsina today.

He listed local government areas where the grazing reserves would be established as Jibia, Batsari, Dutsinma, Safana, Danmusa, Kankara, Faskari, Sabuwa and Dandume.

Yakubu explained that part of the funds released will be used to construct schools, health centres and veterinary clinics in the villages hosting the reserves.

The deputy governor reiterated that both federal and state government is committed to ensuring the peaceful living of cattle herders. Assuring its determination to deal with cattle rustlers, kidnappers and other criminalities in the state.

“We are soliciting for the support and cooperation of the affected communities to provide suitable sites for the execution of these projects”, Yakubu said.

We Couldn’t Dissociate Shettima From Terrorist Kingpin, Kabiru Sokoto, Chibok Girls’ Abduction – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said on Sunday that it could not dissociate Senator Kashim Shettima from the abduction of teenagers from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State by the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram, eight years ago.

Naija News recalls that Shettima was the incumbent governor when the terrorists attacked Chibok at night in April 2014 and whisked away 276 students, mostly Christian female students.

PDP flashed back to the event in reaction to Shettima’s speech at the just-concluded National Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), where he said his principal, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu will handle Nigeria’s economy while he (Shettima) will take care of the nation’s security.

Making reference to the statement while appearing on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme on Sunday, PDP Head of Digital, Anthony Ehilebo said owing to the antecedents, Nigeria cannot let Shettima be in charge of its security.

Shettima who is the running mate to the APC presidential flag-bearer spoke confidently about tackling the nation’s security challenges at the NBA.
