A man who was reportedly parading himself as a captain of the Nigerian Army has been arrested in Lagos State by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Naija News reports.

The force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed in a statement on Sunday noon that the suspect, Andy Edwards, was nabbed by detectives of the command after allegedly robbing some ladies of their valuables, including cars.

Hundeyin said the 39-year-old suspect in his last criminal act, paraded himself as a modelling agent, invited the unsuspecting ladies for auditioning and then robbed them of their cars and valuables at gunpoint.

According to the PPRO, Edwards was arrested following a painstaking investigation launched after one of his victims reported the robbery of her Lexus RX330 SUV.

Hundeyin revealed in the statement that further investigation led to the recovery of one Ford Edge SUV with registration number KRD 276 EG, one sewing machine, one POS machine with six SIM cards, two pairs of military camouflage uniforms, one number plate – AFL 469 GD, in the suspect’s house.

Naija News learnt that while an investigation is being rounded off, the owner of the Ford SUV is urged to come forward to claim it. The suspect would be arraigned after the investigation.

It said the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi FDC, assured the residents of the state of the unwavering commitment of officers and men of the command towards annihilation of crime and criminality in the state.
