Former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano has sympathized with his successor, Charles Soludo, over the demise of the Majority Leader of the Anambra State House of Assembly.

Naija News reported earlier that the deceased, Nnamdi Okafor, slumped and died on Tuesday in Johannesburg where he was attending a training organised for Anambra legislators.

Okafor, who was known to be a pharmacist, was until his death the lawmaker representing Awka South I constituency.

Condolence messages have been pouring in for the State Assembly, the incumbent government and the family of the deceased.

Joining a host of others in consoling Soludo, Obiano, in a statement by his media aide, Tony Nezianya, sympathized with the Anambra government, legislators and people of the state over the demise of their beloved son and brother.

Obiano stressed that out of love for Anambra and Nigeria, Okafor left a thriving pharmaceutical job in the U.S. to contribute his quota to the nation’s political development.

He said: “He was an active lawmaker and the majority leader in the house who has been contributing to the growth of the legislature and participating in robust debates in the house.

“I condole with Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Rt Hon Uche Okafor, the speaker, members of the house, the people of Awka South I constituency and his immediate family over his demise.”

The former Governor stressed that the deceased was a vocal lawmaker who would be missed in the assembly and by the people of Anambra.
