Just In: List Of PDP Governors In Attendance As Meeting With Wike Begins

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has ordered the arrest of Chinyere Igwe, an ally of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.

Naija News reports that the order for Igwe’s arrest comes a day after his filling station in Port Harcourt was sealed by the state government.

Igwe, a member of the House of Representatives, is an ally of former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara.

Both Igwe and Opara are supporters of the PDP presidential flagbearer.

Speaking on the sealing of the filling station on Saturday, Wike claimed that the product from the filling station was gotten from illegal refineries popularly known as kpo-fire.

The governor, therefore, said his government will not tolerate oil bunkering.

Wike said: “If I hear anything that any filling station is involved in oil bunkering, I will close down that filling station and therefore I have directed the security agencies to know who has that filling station in Diobu and arrest that person and we are going to prosecute the person.

“It doesn’t matter how highly placed that person is. Some of you should be used to teach a lesson.

“Time has come, we cannot allow oil bunkering, we can’t.”

This is coming after Governor Wike warned that he would seal properties that is been used by politicians who are planning to destabilise the state.

Politically Motivated

Reacting to the closure of his filling station on Friday, Igwe described the action of the security agencies as politically motivated.

He also disclosed that security operatives had sealed a lounge belonging to Ogbonda Jones, who is also an ally of Opara.
