Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has advised Nigerians on possible ways to avoid being harassed by Policemen on the road.

Naija News reports that police harassment has become a recent trend that many people have condemned, from checking an individual’s phone to illegal extortion.

In a post shared on Twitter, the actor said he engages in a lot of road trips and has never been harassed by the police.

According to Yul, the secret to avoiding harassment is ‘humility’ and advised young people to keep their popular cliche ‘Don’t you know me,’ attitude aside when dealing with the police.

He tweeted: “I do road trips a lot, I’ve met so many policemen on the road & they’ve never harassed me before. The secret is humility.

“All that ‘don’t you know me’ attitude, keep it aside. You’re a citizen just like everyone else. Once you humble yourself na policemen go hail you pass.”

A video of the singer and some security personnel having an argument had earlier surfaced online.

In a now-deleted tweet, BNXN had said that he spat at the police officers and it made him feel good.

Reacting to the development, Lagos Police Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin said that the musician would answer for his assault on a police officer.

He also stated that the police officers would not be spared if they were found guilty of any inappropriate behaviour.
