The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Kaduna chapter, Hassan Hyet, has said that the crisis plaguing the party will be resolved when the election campaign begins.

Naija News recalls that the rift in the party began after Abubakar Atiku polled 371 out of the 767 accredited votes to defeat his closest rival, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, who polled 237 votes during the presidential primaries held on May 27, 2022.

After the primaries, there were speculations that Atiku would offer Wike the vice presidential position to placate him over his loss.

However, things took a turn for the worse after Atiku picked Delta state governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.

Efforts to reconcile the two politicians have remained impossible as Wike and other party stakeholders are demanding that the National Chairman of the party Iyorchia Ayu give up his position for peace to return.

Speaking on the situation, at a summit, Hyet, a former Minister of State for Aviation, said the disunity arising following the outcome of the presidential primaries and the nomination of Okowa as the vice presidential candidate of PDP, will fizzle out once the campaign council for the 2023 elections is put in place.

He insisted that it is normal for disagreements to occur after the primaries adding that things would soon be resolved.
