Just In: List Of PDP Governors In Attendance As Meeting With Wike Begins

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has rejected the call to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) and support its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

An associate of Governor Wike revealed this while speaking with Daily Independent on Thursday.

An associate of the River State governor said Wike, who has noted that he would not support the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, took the same decision on the presidential ambition of Tinubu.

He further stated that Governor Wike made it clear that he will not have anything to do with APC because of the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

A former federal lawmaker in Rivers State, while speaking on the issue, said Governor Wike has made it clear that he would not be dumping the PDP.

He said, “The governor has made it clear that he is a foundation member of the PDP and he will not leave it for any other party. The possibility of his joining the ruling party (APC) is completely ruled out.

“He has made it clear to us that aside from the fact that the APC is a failed party, he finds the Muslim-Muslim ticket being paraded in the 2023 presidential election repulsive and will not be a part of it.”

Despite the move to resolve differences in the party, Governor Wike has now dragged the former vice president and the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal to court.

Wike asked the court to declare him the presidential candidate of the main opposition party.
