Corp Member Jailed For Internet Fraud

The Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin has jailed a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Adetuberu Christopher Adetoyese for engaging in fraud.

According to reports, the corps member currently serving in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, was sentenced to two years imprisonment over internet fraud-related offenses by Justice Ibrahim Yusuf.

The court, on Thursday, August 11, 2022, found Adetuberu, 28, guilty of the two counts preferred against him by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Meanwhile, the EFCC has apprehended two herbalists who allegedly conspired to defraud an aspiring House of Representatives member in Ekiti of 24 million naira.

EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, revealed via a statement, that the suspects, Abiodun Ibrahim and Wale Adifala, alongside Ifawole Ajibola (aka Baba Kalifa,) who is currently on the run were apprehended by the commission in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti capital.

The trio allegedly conspired to defraud the politician in Ekiti of the sum of N24,071,000 which was to be used to spiritually secure the political ambition of the politician.

During interrogation, Adifala admitted to collecting the sum of N2.9 million from the victim which was used to buy black, brown and white cows, rams, lavender perfume, rings and others used to carry out the sacrifices.
