Wike Hosts APC’s Senator Wamakko, Hours After Inviting Sanwo-Olu For Project Commissioning

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Tuesday morning played host to a former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.

Naija News reports that Wamakko, who was hosted at Wike’s country home, is in Rivers State to commission the dualised Ogbunabali road in Port Harcourt.

The former governor’s visit to the state is coming 24 hours after Wike had invited Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to inaugurate the Orochiri-Worukwo (Waterlines junction) Flyover.

Wike has been meeting with governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after falling out with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

2023: More Than 50% Of New Voters Want Their PVCs Because Of Peter Obi – Arabambi

The National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi has submitted that the increase in the number of Nigerians clamouring to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2023 elections is because they want to support the Peter Obi presidential ambition.

He claimed more than 50% of the new voters registered are those who believe in Peter Obi.

Arabambi added that the presidential ambition of the Labour Party (LP) candidate has awoken a fresh interest of Nigerians in the electoral process, particularly the youths of the country.

He made the submission in a recent interview on Arise TV as monitored by Naija News.

2023: Seadogs Speaks On Viral Video, Denies Supporting Any Political Candidate

The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity) has said that they are not backing any candidate for the presidency or any other office in the 2023 general elections.

Naija News recalls that a viral video had shown Pyrates Confraternity members dressed in red and white attire dancing and chanting, “Hand dey shake, leg dey shake, baba wey no well he dey shout Emi Lokan.”

Professor Wole Soyinka, who founded Pyrates Confraternity as a university student in Ibadan, Nigeria, described making a mockery of Tinubu due to his ill-health as distasteful.

Speaking at a briefing held late Monday, the NAS Cap’n, Mr. Abiola Owoaje, said that the viral video was wrongly misinterpreted, while also insisting that the confraternity is apolitical.

The NAS Cap’n maintained that it was the typical climax of its annual general meeting and that at no time in the history of the organization has this event, or indeed any of its events had any slanted political leanings.

2023: How Rift Between Wike, Atiku Started – Lawmaker

A lawmaker in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Solomon Bob has alleged what led to the rift between the Governor of the State, Nyesom Wike and the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

Bob while speaking on Channels TV on Monday said disinformation led to a clash between the former Vice President and Wike.

According to the lawmaker, disinformation released by Atiku’s men before and after the presidential primary of the party led to the crisis in the party.

Bob further stated that claims that Governor Wike is not pleased with the outcome of the PDP’s presidential primary and also wanted to be Atiku’s running mate are all lies.

He further stated that such lies were released to, “pull down Wike and elevate the candidate, who already has a huge profile and an election to win.”

Adeyanju Reacts As Wike Hosts Wamakko In Port Harcourt

Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has reacted to the meeting between Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and a former Sokoto State Governor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.

Naija News earlier reported that Governor Wike played host to Senator Wamakko at his country home in Rumuepirikom, Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

The former Governor of Sokoto is in the South-South state to commission the dualised Ogbunabali road in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Wamakko’s visit to the state is coming 24 hours after Wike had invited Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State to inaugurate the Orochiri-Worukwo (Waterlines junction) Flyover.

Wike has been meeting with governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) after falling out with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Those from the APC that have visited Wike include Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State; Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State and others.

Reacting, Adeyanju in a tweet via his Twitter handle, said stated that the invitation of Wamakko, who is a strong opponent of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, to the state is political.

2023: Keyamo Speaks On Rift Between Tinubu And Osinbajo

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has dismissed claims that there is a rift between the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and Vice president Yemi Osinbajo.

Naija News reports that Osinbajo and other presidential aspirants have allegedly refused to take active roles in the Tinubu presidential campaign.

Tinubu has been accused of not consulting widely with Osinbajo and key stakeholders in the party on issues that concern his presidential campaign, preferring, instead, to speak to Northern APC governors.

Speaking on Monday night during an interview with Arise TV, Keyamo said Tinubu and Osinbajo are not at loggerheads over the outcome of the APC presidential primaries.

The Spokesperson of the APC presidential campaign council added that the ruling party is united and determined to win the 2023 presidential election.

Atiku, Wike Can’t Hold Talks In Absence Of PDP Leaders – Lamido

Nigeria’s former Foreign Affairs Minister, Sule Lamido has argued that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, cannot hold any political talks with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in the absence of party stakeholders.

The Jigawa State former governor said the duo can have personnel meetings but cannot speak about events from the party’s national convention without party leadership involvement, Naija News reports.

According to Lamido, Atiku lacked the authority to discuss the outcome of the PDP convention which had polarised the party between him and Governor Wike.

Lamido, while reacting to the recent meeting between Atiku and Wike at the residence of a former Minister of Information and National Orientation, Prof Jerry Gana, said as a candidate produced by the party through a convention, the presidential candidate lacked the authority to speak on it and embark on any reconciliatory agreement.

Kwara Govt Reacts To Viral Video Showing Gov. Abdulrazaq Being Booed At An Event

The Kwara State government has reacted to a viral video showing Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq getting booed at a public event.

As seen in the video that went viral, Gov Abdulrazq was almost mobbed but security operatives quickly surrounded him and took him out of the event.

This is as the crowd continued to shout ‘ole’ in Yoruba language, which simply means ‘thief’. Some others also shouted ‘Sai Bukky’, which is a popular political chant in the North Central state, used in praising the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who was once a governor in the state.

However, the state government has disclosed that the video is not a recent one, clarifying that the incident happened in 2018 when Gov. Abdulrazaq was still a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The reaction which was contained in a statement on signed by the Special Adviser, Political Communication to the Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Bashir Adigun said opposition members only tried to bring it back and pass it off as a recent happening.

He explained further that the event which was organized by the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) at the Emir of Ilorin’s Palace, held on 26th December 2018.

2023: ‘Tinubu Is Far Ahead, Peter Obi A Trojan Horse For Atiku’ – Keyamo

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has said the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi may be a trojan horse for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar.

A trojan horse is a person or thing intended to undermine or secretly overthrow an enemy or opponent.

Naija News recalls that the former Governor of Anambra State had defected from PDP to LP a few days before their presidential primary.

In an interview with Arise TV, Keyamo admitted that Peter Obi and New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso raise the consciousness of electorates across Nigeria.

However, Keyamo stressed that Obi is a carpetbagger outside the Southeast and maybe a trojan horse for Atiku.

He further warned that the LP candidate might lead his supporters to nowhere.

He added that the All Progressive Congress (APC) demographics have shown that the party’s candidate Bola Tinubu is far ahead of Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso.

Labour Party Faces Uncertainty In A Bid To Replace Lagos Guber Candidate

The Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has been unable to replace its candidate for the 2023 governorship election.

The development Naija News understands has thrown the party into uncertainties as the 2023 general elections draw near.

The party was supposed to conduct a fresh primary election yesterday, but the process was put on hold following an allegation of tampering with the delegates’ list raised by one of the aspirants, Moshood Salvador.

Naija News understands there are controversies in the state party chapter as stakeholders put pressure on aspirant, Mr Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour to step down for Salvador.

Their bid, however, failed yesterday as the former insisted on participating in the primary.

It was reported that Salvador, who recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to LP, while addressing newsmen at the venue of the primary yesterday, called for a postponement until the issues discovered in the delegates’ list were sorted.

However, the Chairman of the Substitution Governorship Primary Election, Sam Emeka Okpara said there was no omission as far as the committee is concerned, saying the primary would go ahead as scheduled.

‘He Has Openly Declared War On Atiku’ – Ex-Lawmaker Knocks Wike For Humiliating Former Governor, Deputy Speaker

A former lawmaker, Senator Lee Maeba has lambasted Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for working against the presidential ambition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar, and for portraying himself as a superhuman being.

Recall that the Rivers State Governor had last week ordered the sacking of the Governing Council of the Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola in Port Harcourt led by Maeba.

Maeba, in an interview with The PUNCH, stated that Wike removed him as the Chairman of Elechi Amadi Polytechnic because of his closeness to Atiku, adding that the governor is not hiding that he is fighting the PDP presidential candidate.

Maeba also revealed that Wike removed former Governor Celestine Omehia and a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Opara, as leaders of their party in Ikwerre and Port Harcourt City LGAs respectively.

He accused the Rivers State governor of humiliating the duo before their people because they went to pay a solidarity visit to Atiku Abubakar.
