Former President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan is currently monitoring the presidential poll in Kenya.

After almost ten years under President Uhuru Kenyatta, who served two terms, the nation is looking forward to a seamless transfer of power.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to step down after the election is concluded due to term limits.

Veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga and current Deputy President William Ruto are the two front-runners to succeed him.

Kenyatta fell out with Ruto and has endorsed Odinga

The three men were involved in the 2007 election, however, Ruto backed Odinga against Kenyatta’s then-boss.

Kenyatta and Ruto faced charges at the International Criminal Court over their alleged role in the violence; the cases were later dropped.
