Nigerians React As Atiku, Wike Meet Over PDP Crisis

Nigerians have reacted to the meeting between the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

Naija News earlier reported that the former Vice President met with Governor Wike at the home of a former Minister of Information, Jerry Gana, for lunch.

A source told The Cable that Thursday’s meeting was “positive,” and there would be more “fence-mending” in the coming days, which is aimed at resolving the crisis in the party since the presidential primary in May.

Nyesom Wike and Atiku met today at professor Jerry Gana’s house in Abuja. It was a good meeting and there will be more meetings in the coming days,” the source said.

It is understood that the meeting is one of the efforts to resolve the crisis in the PDP over the selection of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as the running mate to Atiku.

Following the meeting, some Nigerians took to the micro-blogging platform, Twitter to express their views regarding the development.

Below are some of the reactions.

@St_Kemhi wrote: “Forget grandstanding. @atiku will beg @GovWike. If that enhances his chances, he’d roll on the floor to beg. But if he becomes president, he’d deal with Wike for the begging he begged.”

@eniafe_lamo wrote: “Atiku as president will be like Oyetola as Osun governor with no effect at all..so dull as a cemetery.”

@KupparKash wrote: “@GovWike Man of the moment”
