A reconciliation committee set up by the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has met with the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

Naija News reports that the committee met with Abubakar at his Asokoro residence in Abuja on Wednesday shortly after the BoT meeting held at the PDP National Secretariat.

Earlier, the BoT Chairman, Walid Jibrin, while speaking with journalists said that all members of the BoT are part of the reconciliatory committee.

Jibrin said the committee would interface and try to resolve the acrimony taking place between Abubakar and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

He said. “The committee is the committee of the whole. This means all members of the BoT are part of the reconciliatory panel as well.

“We have set out, from this BoT, a committee to interface between warring factions particularly between the acrimony taking place between the presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and Governor Wike and any other conflict that is taking place in the nation, within our party formation.”

Speaking further, Jibrin refused to state how long the panel will take to reconcile the aggrieved members.

“I cannot tell you the grievances and the duration but right now, we are heading to the candidate’s house in Asokoro to start this project.

Naija News reports that the creation of a reconciliatory committee comes amid a crisis in the party resulting from Wike’s anger at the manner he lost the presidential primary to Atiku.

Wike and his supporters, including some state governors, are also angry that the former vice president picked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate.
