A family have reportedly turned down the demand by the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force to carry out an autopsy on their 65-year-old mother killed by a suspected ritualist.

The deceased, Mrs Tunmise Oluyemi was said to have went missing over the weekend.

Naija News learnt that her lifeless body was later found on her farm in the Fadahunsi area of Ilesa on Monday morning.

Confirming the disturbing incident, the spokesperson for the Police Command, Yemisi Opalola said in a statement on Tuesday that the unknown assailants removed one of the eyes of the deceased.

She said a complainant, Dare Oluyemi had approached the command earlier to report that Tunmise who went missing has been found dead.

“It was reported around 1 pm on Monday to the police that one Tunmise Oluyemi, aged 65, who went missing last Saturday, was found dead on her farm at the Fadahunsi area of Ilesa around 11.30 am.

“One of the eyes of the deceased was plucked out by the yet-to-be-identified assailants,” the PPRO explained.

Opalola said police operatives responded to the report and visited the scene.

The police spokesperson, however, said that Oluyemi and other children of the deceased refused to release the corpse to the police.

“They refused to allow the police take the corpse to a mortuary. They threatened violence and insisted they wanted to bury her,” she said.
