Reactions have trailed the comment made by veteran Nigerian journalist, Reuben Abati against Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State over the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Naija News reports that Wike in a chat with reporters last Friday berated the former presidential aide over a recent interview granted by the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Reacting to some comments made by Atiku, Wike said the former vice president lied in the interview and insinuated that Abati did not engage in investigative journalism.

The Rivers governor also accused the veteran journalist of not asking Atiku intelligent questions.

Responding to Wike’s criticism on Arise TV’s The Morning Show on Monday, Abati blamed the PDP for making Wike feel entitled because he was the one who held the party together after it lost the presidential election in 2015.

The former presidential spokesperson said the party should find out what Wike wants and give him some “lollipop, adding that the governor is not in a position to teach him journalism.

However, Abati advised Wike to allow Nigerians to focus on serious issues, as he does not have the right to misbehave in public.

Following the development, some Nigerians have taken to the micro-blogging platform, Twitter to react to the comments made by the journalist.

@oketega1 wrote: “Reuben Abati is being emotional. That interview with Atiku was an edited embarrassment & with all his acclaimed years in journalism could not ask pertinent questions 4 reasons are now obvious.

“Where was Atiku & Co when d PDP that is supreme was sinking? They were the iceberg after all.”

@kayoloruntobi wrote: “I thought am the only one that saw the decension of @abati1990 into the dirty political fight with Wike albeit for @atiku. He can’t win but has brought @ARISEtv and journalism into disrepute. He was too personal to the extent he became angry and forgot he is on air. Sad.
