2023: Obi's Camp Denies Claims Of Campaign Funds Diversion

Nigerian journalist, Ike Abonyi has berated Deji Adeyanju over his comment on Labor Party, LP, presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Naija News reports that Adeyanju had earlier announced that he had withdrawn his support for the LP flag bearer over claims that the former Anambra State Governor invested government funds in his family business.

However Abonyi has countered Adeyanju’s claims, insisting that he was also in the meeting and his allegations against Obi were unfounded.

Obi Invested Anambra State Money In Family Business – Adeyanju

Speaking via a post on Twitter, Adeyanju had claimed that he stopped supporting Obi’s presidential bid because he told him that he (Obi) invested Anambra state funds into his family business.

He had written: “The real reason i stopped supporting Peter Obi was after I met him for a 3hrs meeting at his instance of course & he told to me he invested billions of Anambra State funds into his family business. And the man was even trying to justify it. So many other things he said. SMH!”

Reacting to Adeyanju’s allegations, Abonyi said there were no truths to the activist’s claim.

Abonyi responded: “I was at the meeting Deji had with Obi, I was there all through and left with him after about three hours of frank discussion.

“Obi was telling his life story in and out of government, none of which is new as he had said similar things repeatedly in public.

“Deji, did you and Obi meet again? I am shocked, you are free to support whoever without all these funny blackmails.”

“Adeyanju is on record severally to have declared Obi to be the best candidate and had publicly encouraged Obi to leave PDP.”
