1. Presidency Reacts To Terrorists’ Threat To Abduct Buhari

The Presidency has reacted to a video of terrorists threatening to kidnap President Muhammadu Buhari and the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.

Naija News had earlier reported that the terrorists, who abducted over 60 passengers of the Abuja Kaduna train on March 28, also threatened to destroy the country, kill the remaining passengers in their custody and sell out the others.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement released on Sunday said the security agencies are not relenting in their assignment.

The statement titled ‘Latest Version of Terror Propaganda and Military Readiness’ read in part, “Terrorist activity using propaganda and the use of violence to force governments to accept or submit to political demands are not new all over the world.

“The country’s security and defence forces are not clueless or helpless. They have their plans and ways of doing things which they will not display in the media.”

2. Atiku Fires Fresh Shot At Tinubu, Says APC Presidential Candidate Suffering Memory Loss

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has taken a fresh jibe at the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Naija News reports that Atiku and Tinubu have recently engaged in a war of words following the former Friday interview on Arise TV.

Atiku accused Tinubu of wanting to be his running mate in 2007, but he rejected it because of the Muslim-Muslim ticket.

But Tinubu countered, saying Atiku lobbied him to be his Vice-Presidential candidate in 2007, just as he wanted to be MKO Abiola’s running mate in 1993.

In another statement released to journalists on Sunday by Atiku Abubakar’s Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, said Tinubu’s memory may not be what it used to be.

He wondered that if Tinubu could forget the name of his political party, why would he not also forget what transpired in 2007 and 2015.

3. Why Peter Obi Doesn’t Know EFCC, DSS, ICPC Offices – Amechi

A First Republic Aviation Minister, Mbazulike Amechi, has claimed that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, possesses a clean record, which is why he has not been arrested or prosecuted by any anti-corruption agency.

Speaking to journalists at the weekend, Amechi mocked former Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano for trying to leave the country hours after handing over.

The nonagenarian stated that if Peter Obi loses the 2023 presidential election, he (Amaechi) would conclude that God has destined Nigeria to suffer.

The elder statesman warned that nothing harmful must befall the presidential candidate of the Labour Party and his running mate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed.

4. Osinbajo Shares Picture From The Hospital After Surgery

The Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has shared a picture of himself as he recuperates after a successful surgery on his leg.

The picture, shared on Sunday via his Twitter page, also has his wife, Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo and some hospital staff in the frame.

The Vice President appreciated the hospital staff and all well-wishers for the ‘get-well’ messages he has been receiving.

Osinbajo used the opportunity to thank Nigerians and others who wished him a quick and speedy recovery.

5. Terrorists Release New Video, Threaten To Abduct And Kill Buhari, El-Rufai

Terrorists have threatened to kidnap and kill Nigeria’s number one citizen, President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News reports that this is coming a few weeks after the convoy of an advance team of the president was attacked on its way to Buhari’s hometown of Daura, Katsina, ahead of Sallah.

In a new video seen by Naija News, the terrorists threatened to abduct and kill Buhari and Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State.

The terrorists, who abducted over 60 passengers of the Abuja Kaduna train on March 28, also boasted that they would destroy the country, kill the remaining passengers in their custody and sell out the others.

In the video, a terrorist could be heard threatening to turn the area into an abattoir unless the Muhammadu Buhari-led government complied with their demands.

6. Gani Adams Warns On When Nigeria May Break Up

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has warned that Nigeria might break up in the next two years.

The Odua People’s Congress, OPC, leader Adams made this know while speaking at the Okota celebration in his hometown of Arigidi-Akoko, in Ondo State’s Akoko North-West Local Government Area.

He stated that going by the plethora of crises in the country, Nigeria might cease to exist.

According to Gani Adams, restructuring was the only way to save the nation from disintegration.

He said the Muhammadu Buhari-led government had exhibited a lack of coordination despite the insecurity situation, the economic downturn, and deteriorated institutions, among other things.

7. 2023 Rivers Governorship: Abe’s Name Missing In INEC’s List

The name of the former lawmaker representing Rivers south east senatorial district, Magnus Abe is missing in the list of governorship candidates published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The list released by the electoral body at its office in Rivers State listed African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Ibraye Tonte and Action Alliance (AA), Somiari Victor as the youngest governorship candidates in the state.

Siminialayi Fubara was listed as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, while Tonye Cole is contesting under the All Progressives Congress.

Fingesi Tamie is contesting under the Action Democratic Party, with Cookey Sophia running on the platform of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

African Action Congress (AAC) has Dada Obele Joseph Ngechu as its governorship candidate, with Pronen Maurice listed as the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the platform where Abe had been speculated to emerge.

Other candidates include Dumo Lulu-Briggs for Accord Party, Accord, Faye-Ofori Churchill of Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Nwanze Michael (Boot Party), Ex-Militant Leader, Sobomabo Jackrich (National Rescue Movement) and Action Peoples Party (APP) Gborogbosi Gabriel.

8. Davido’s Father Reveals What He Will Do To His Younger Brother If He Loots Osun State Treasury

Nigerian musician, Davido‘s father who currently serves as the Pro-Chancellor, Adeleke University, Dr Deji Adeleke has revealed what he will do to Osun state Governor-election, Ademola Adeleke if he decided to loot the state’s treasury in his administration.
Naija News understands that the academician is the elder brother of Senator Ademola Adeleke who defeated the incumbent Governor of Osun, Gboyega Oyetola in the recently conducted gubernatorial election in the state.

Dr Deji while speaking at the 8th undergraduate and 4th postgraduate convocation of the Adeleke University over the weekend said the governor-elect has no reason to fail the people who voted him into power.

He said Adeleke is not answerable to any god-father, hence is not under any pressure to loot the state’s purse to feed the political godfather.

The academician added that all that is needed is for the Governor-elect to focus on good governance, saying that he has counselled him (Ademola) and his team that anyone whose interest is to steal state resources must not be allowed to make the cabinet.

9. 2023: PDP Warns Babayemi Against Filing Lawsuit To Remove Adeleke

An aggrieved former governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Dotun Babayemi, has been warned by the party not to seek further legal action against the candidature of governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke.

Recall that the Court of Appeal sitting in Akure last week declared Adeleke as the valid candidate of the PDP.

Babayemi who contested in another primary of the party in Osun State had challenged the primary which produced Adeleke as the candidate of the PDP.

The Osun PDP Caretaker Chairman, Akindele Adekunle, in a statement released concerning Babayemi’s action said “the primary that produced Senator Adeleke fulfilled all extant regulations and legal requirements in line with the electoral act among others.

10. Moment Terrorists Flogged Train Victims, Threatened To Kidnap Buhari

The video showing terrorists flogging victims of the Kaduna-Abuja train attack has surfaced online.
In a new one-minute video, the terrorists are seen flogging some of the victims kidnapped on the Kaduna-bound train on March 28, 2022.

The terrorists also threatened to kidnap and kill President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State.

The gunmen in the video also boasted that they would destroy the country, kill the remaining passengers in their custody and sell out the others.

One of the terrorists could be heard threatening to turn the area into an abattoir unless the Muhammadu Buhari-led government complied with their demands.

11. IPOB Reacts As UN Asks Buhari Govt To Release Nnamdi Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has reacted to the directive of the United Nations (UN) to President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to release its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

IPOB in its reaction commended the UN for calling for the unconditional release of Kanu.

The group stated that the opinion of the UN indicted the Nigerian and Kenyan governments for the kidnap of the IPOB leader.

IPOB in the statement released on Sunday expressed hope that the Nigerian Government would comply with the directive of the UN and release Kanu.

Recall that the United Nations Council’s Working Group on Arbitrary Detention on Saturday called on the Buhari Government to release Kanu unconditionally.
