A tweet made by sensational Tobi Amusan in 2016 has resurfaced after her record-breaking win at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in the USA.

The 25-year-old Nigerian athlete won the gold medal at the 100m hurdles competition, Naija News recalls.

In the old tweet, Amusan had tweeted that though she is currently unknown, she’ll soon become unforgettable.

Her tweet made on November 8, 2016, reads: “Unknown now, but soon I will be UNFORGETTABLE. I will Persist until I SUCCEED.”

The tweet resurfaced and has gone viral following her recent heroics at the just concluded championship.

Tobi Amusan became the first Nigerian to win the gold medal at the World Athletic Championship and she did it in style by breaking existing records.

First, she set a record time in the semi-finals with 12.12 seconds, which broke the 12.20 record of America’s Kendra Harrison, who finished behind Amusan in second place.

Then she clocked 12.06 seconds in the final which would have broken her new world record, but her new record was ineligible as the wind speed was over the legal limit.

“The goal was to go out and to win this gold medal,” she said.
