2023: APC’s Bola Tinubu Shortlists El-Rufai And Oshiomhole For Campaign DG

Moves are already underway to pick a campaign Director-General for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Naija News reports that the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed the presidential and the National Assembly electioneering campaigns for September 28 in compliance with Section 94(1) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for February 25, 2023.

Ahead of the commencement of campaigns, the ruling APC is reportedly considering zoning the director general of the party’s presidential campaign council to the North-West as compensation for the zone missing out on the vice-presidential ticket.

Recall that Bola Tinubu had picked a former Borno State Governor, Senator Kashim Shettima, from the North-East zone as his running mate.

A top source in Tinubu’s camp told The PUNCH that the APC and its presidential candidate have decided that the director general will be picked from the North-West.

According to the source, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and former Edo State Governor and APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, are being considered.

2023: Group Slams APC Over Muslim-Muslim Ticket

The Centre for Justice on Religious and Ethnicity in Nigeria has berated the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

The centre said the choice of former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima as the APC vice presidential candidate is a clear indication that Boko Haram and ISWAP would resume their activities of abducting children from schools.

According to the centre, over 200 Chibok School girls were abducted under Shettima’s watch during his tenure and they have not been found till date.

Naija News reports that the centre made this known in a statement on Saturday by its Director-General, Rev. Kallamu Dikwa.

It added that the decision of the ruling party was spurred by its desire to propagate Islam, and the tenets of Boko Haram and ISWAP.

The centre asserted that the same faith ticket does not ensure ustice, equity and fairness to all for the progress and development of the country.

PDP Crisis Deepens As Wike’s Camp Fume Over Atiku Abubakar’s Interview

Those hoping that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will resolve its crisis and go into the 2023 general election united may be in for a shocker as reports claim that the camp of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is fuming over the recent interview of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku had, in an interview on Arise TV last Friday, suggested that he could not work amicably with the governor as running mate.

He, however, added that he would soon meet with the Rivers State Governor to resolve any lingering issues between them.

According to The Nation, Wike’s camp were left fuming over Atiku’s interview, claiming the former vice president lied about so many things.

Associates of Wike were surprised by Atiku’s statement depicting the governor as someone he could not work with amicably and the former VP’s denial that Wike got majority votes from members of the PDP selection committee.

2023 Presidency: Sowore Publicly Declares Assets

Human rights activist and the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has publicly declared his assets ahead of the 2023 general elections.

He made this known via a Twitter post on Saturday while reacting to a challenge from an advocacy organisation, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).

SERAP had in a tweet challenged Sowore to publish details of his assets and to publicly commit to rejecting vote-buying and electoral bribery before and during the elections.

“Dear ‪@YeleSowore‬ Ahead of the February 2023 presidential election, we’re again calling on you to show leadership by urgently publishing details of your assets and publicly rejecting vote-buying and electoral bribery before and during the elections,” the civic organisation wrote.

Replying to the tweet, the AAC presidential candidate said he had two cars, and a house in his hometown in Ondo State worth N5million among other assets.

Buhari’s Aide Ojudu Meets Ekiti Governor-elect, Oyebanji

The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, has met with the Ekiti State Governor-elect, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

Naija News reports that Ojudu met with Oyebanji on Saturday in Abuja, a month after the Ekiti governorship election.

Speaking at the meeting, Ojudu stated that Oyebanji has the capacity, competence and required experience to reposition the South West state.

He advised the Governor-elect to quickly address the poverty in the state and focus more on people-oriented programmes and policies.

Ojudu also commended Oyebanji for his ongoing consultation with Ekiti leaders and stakeholders, stating that the move has shown his level-headedness and a leader with a remarkable listening ear.

Orji Kalu Speaks On Doing Money Rituals To Buy Mercedes Benz In 1982

The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzor Kalu had taken a walk down memory lane to reminisce about how he was rumored to be involved in money rituals after he bought the then latest Mercedes Benz in 1982.

Orji, who was a former governor of Abia State, via his verified Facebook on Sunday noted that he was already wealthy before joining politics.

Orji Kalu in the long thread opened up that he returned to politics after 12 years of being the Governor to rescue his people from poverty.

2023: Peter Obi’s Running Mate, Datti Ahmed Reacts As BBNaija S7 Commences

The Vice Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Senator Yusuf Datti Ahmed on Sunday admonished youths as Nigeria’s biggest reality show, Big Brother Naija resumed another season.

Naija News reports that the season seven edition of the BBNaija show tagged ‘Level Up’ was launched on Saturday, July 23, 2022.

There are suspicions that the reality show will get the attention of many citizens who will be glued to their Tv screens and eventually pay less attention to political affairs.

In a tweet on Sunday morning, Datti-Ahmed who would be running the LP 2023 presidential ticket alongside former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, urged the supporters of the Obidient camp to remain focused and not be distracted by the BBNaija show.
