Man Arrested With Military Uniforms, Other Kits In Gombe

Gombe State Police Command has arrested one Auwal Yakubu, alias “kawu” ‘m’ of Magaji quarters Bauchi, for being in possession of Military uniforms and other kits, contrary to section 133 of Penal code Law of Gombe State.

This was contained in a statement made available on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) ASP Mahid Mua’zu Abubakar, to pressmen in Gombe, said the suspect was intercepted on the 12th May, 2022 at about 1430hrs at Dukku road, military checkpoints.

According to him, the suspect was arrested in possession of 3 pairs of jungle boots, 2 pairs of military uniforms, two military jungle hats and a pair of hands glove and brought to Police Headquarters by a team of Military Police.

He disclosed that “the X-squad unit of SCID Gombe is investigating the case and the suspect will soon be charged to court.”

ASP Abubakar further disclosed that one Abubakar Hamidu ‘m’ aged 35yrs of Jauro Abare quarters Gombe was also arrested in connection with the alleged rape contrary to section 282 of the penal code law of Gombe State.

He noted that “on the 19th July 2022 at about 0900hrs one Muhammad Hamza ‘m’ of kasuwan mata quarters Gombe reported at Gombe Divisional headquarters that on the 2nd June, 2022 at about 1615hrs the above named suspect lured his sister into an unoccupied house at the said Jauro abare quarters and had sexual intercourse with her. Similarly, in the same month, he lured her into a stream and repeated the act.”

ASP Abubakar said that on receipt of the complaint, the suspect was arrested, noting that both victim and suspect were taken to Police Clinic Gombe for medical examination.

“Suspect confessed to the crime and will soon be charged to court for prosecution.”

In a related development, the Command also disclosed that 4 suspects who were alleged to have criminally conspired and stole a Motorcycle Boxer belonging to one Alh. Muhammad Ibrahim.

The suspects arrested include: Muhammad Abubakar, Alias Dan Ali, ‘m’ aged 21yrs, Danladi Kawu ‘m’ aged 27yrs, Muhammad Yahya, Alias Dala ‘m’ aged 20yrs, and Abubakar Dankade Alias Jabbo ‘m’ aged 20yrs. All of Jurara ward kwami LGA Gombe.

He however stated that “on the 19 July, 2022 at about 1249hrs one Alh. Muhammad Ibrahim ‘m’ of Jurara ward kwami LGA reported at Kwami Divisional Headquarters that his Motorcycle Boxer red in color was stolen at his residence by unknown person at about 0100hrs of 5th July,2022.”

ASP Abubakar revealed that on receipt of the complaint, detectives from the said Division in collaboration with the hunters group of Nigeria swung into action and succeeded in arresting the above-named suspects who confessed to have stolen the motorcycle belonging to the complainant and sold it to one Umar ‘m’ of Bauchi State at the cost of N90,000.”

He said that investigation is in progress, stressing that effort is on top gear to arrest the receiver.

The Commissioner of Police assured the citizens of Gombe State that the Police Command is committed to their security and all criminal cases would transparently be investigated and charged to court to uphold the cause of justice.
