APC’s Tinubu, Shettima In Closed-door Meeting With Buhari

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate for the 2023 election, Senator Kashim Shettima are in a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Naija News understands that the meeting which consists of other big wigs in the ruling party is being hosted at the State House, Abuja.

The meeting was said to have commenced at about 03:00 pm on Friday after President Buhari’s arrival at the venue.

The meeting is coming barely two days after Shettima was unveiled as Tinubu’s substantive running mate. Naija News recalls that the former Governor of Borno state also met with the president yesterday.

Speaking with journalists today, Shettima said he “felt morally bound” to thank the president personally, before returning with a larger delegation on Friday.

Others present are the former Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbe, Former Speaker, Dimeji Bankole and former Chief of Air Staff Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar.

Governors present include Babagana Zulum of Borno, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa and Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi. A former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, and Senator representing Taraba South Senatorial District, Emmanuel Bwacha, were also in attendance, Naija News understands.

Commenting on the agitations over APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket, Shettima said the single faith ticket was not designed to protect the interests of one faith as there were religious leaders to do that.

“In Borno, we spent over N1bn naira rebuilding churches destroyed by the Boko Haram insurgency. And this legacy has been continued by Governor Babagana Zulum. We have taken more Christian pilgrims to Jerusalem than some of the Northern states headed by Christians,” he said.
