Rivers 2023: Wike Speaks On Upcoming Election, Predicts Party That Will Win

Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike on Thursday said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will win the general election in the state.

The governor said this during the signing of a contract with Julius Berger Plc, at the Government House, Port Harcourt, for the construction of the 11th Flyover in the state.

He stated that PDP had done well in the state to raise Rivers to a higher pedestal of development.

He insisted those who are interested in governing Rivers must have something to offer the state.

Wike asserted that he can count some of the things he brought to Rivers State when he was Minister of State for Defence, reiterating that a former governor from the state brought nothing, yet he wants to bring somebody to govern Rivers State.

Governor Ortom, Wike, Others Take Decision On Defection

The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Thursday, spoke on the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party.

Ortom, who recently returned to Nigeria, disclosed that he met with the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and others over the differences in the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

According to Ortom, the aggrieved governors have decided to remain in the main opposition party.

Governor Wike is not pleased with the decision of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to pick the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.

Ortom, who had condemned Atiku for ignoring Wike, said he and his aggrieved colleagues have agreed to remain in PDP.

He, however, called on Atiku to reach out to Governor Wike for reconciliation.

2023: PDP Gov Candidate, Jandor Receives APC Decampees In Lagos

The Peoples Democratic Party Governorship candidate in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor on Wednesday received decampees from the All Progressives Congress.

The decampees from the ruling party came from the 20 Local Government Areas of the Lagos State ahead of the 2023 governorship election.

Jandor disclosed that the decampees, named ‘Best Alternative Network’ dumped APC because they believed in their (PDP) promise to Lagosians.

He further stated that they are against the misrule they are currently experiencing under the ruling party.

No Fake Bishops Attended Shettima’s Unveiling – Tinubu

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has denied reports that fake Bishops were hired to attend the unveiling of his running mate Senator Kashim Shettima.

Tinubu in a statement on Thursday by the Spokesman of the Tinubu Campaign Organisation (TCO), Bayo Onanuga, said the clerics were actually genuine and upcoming.

He asserted that the clerics are church leaders who genuinely believe that Nigerians must eschew politics of hatred and religious bigotry and rather embrace politics of peace and nation building.

The APC presidential candidate stated that the viral videos and pictures of the clerics at the event were the handiworks of political distractors.

He, however, stated that the outrage over the development on and off social media was an unwarranted distraction.

Adamawa APC Governorship Ticket Tussle: Court Reserves Date For Judgment

A Federal High Court sitting in Yola, Adamawa state capital presided over by Justice Abdulaziz Anka has on Wednesday reserved a date for judgement in the case filed by Nuhu Ribadu against the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship Candidate, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani.

Ribadu lost the APC governorship ticket to Binani in a one-sided contest during the party’s primary election held on the 27th May, 2022 in Yola, Naija News recalls.

However, the former EFCC boss went to court to seek the annulment of the primaries because of alleged anomalies during the election. He complained of over-voting and vote buying and asked the court to overturn Binani’s victory.

The presiding judge, Justice Abdulazeez Anka, said the date for judgement would be communicated to the parties involved.

Former Minister of Sport, Solomon Dalung has said that the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has an ulterior motive for fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Tinubu had unveiled the former governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

Sharing his thoughts on APC’s choice of running mate during an interview with Punch, Dalung stated that fielding the same faith ticket was being insensitive towards the need of Nigerians.

Former governor of Borno state and vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Shettima has said that he was initially against Bola Tinubu’s decision of having him as his running mate.

Speaking on his political ambition when he was presented as the party’s vice-presidential candidate on Wednesday, the former Borno state governor said he took on the role out of moral compulsion.

He said: “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu believes in the Nigerian project, and I swear in the name of God that I never supported Asiwaju to be his running mate.

“I supported the project because of moral compulsion.”

Speaking further on the Muslim-Muslim ticket, Shettima urged Nigerians to look beyond malicious concoctions and dubious aspersions.

Adamu Garba Reacts As ‘Bishops’ Attend Shettima’s Unveiling

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, has reacted to the alleged hiring of fake bishops to attend the unveiling of Kashim Shettima as the Vice Presidential candidate of the ruling party.
Naija News reports that some alleged Christian clerics attended the unveiling of the former Governor of Borno State as the APC vice presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

However, the attendance of the Bishops has attracted various reactions from individuals and groups such as the Catholic Church, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Christians across the country.

In a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday, Garba commended the supposed ‘clerics’ for attending the unveiling of the former Governor of Borno State as the APC vice presidential candidate.

He stated that the supposed bishops believe in Nigeria and trust in the capacity of the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu and his running mate.

Garba added that the ‘clerics’ represented the true Nigerian spirit of unity, peace and commitment to building the country for all.

The identities of the Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who attended the unveiling of Kashim Shettima as the vice presidential candidate of the ruling party have emerged.

Naija News reported that the APC on Wednesday officially unveiled the former Governor of Borno State as the running mate of the presidential candidate of the party, Bola Tinubu.

The unveiling, which took place at Shehu Musa Yar’dua Centre in Abuja, was attended by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) led by its Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and other chieftains.

The lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, James Faleke has called on Christians not to be moved by the Muslim/Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress.

The leader of the Tinubu Support Group on Wednesday claimed that the presidential candidate of the party, Bola Tinubu has no agenda to Islamize Nigeria.

Faleke stated this in Abuja during a meeting organised by the Tinubu Media Team to commend him on his role in the victory of Tinubu at the party’s presidential primary election.

The lawmaker further stated that if Tinubu has not Islamized his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, he would not do the same to Nigerians.
