Governance Has Collapsed In Imo State, Uzodinma Has Abandoned His Duties - Nwulu

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has appointed Raymond Ucheoma as the new Head of Service of the state.

Uzodinma stated that the appointment is with immediate effect following the departure of Dr Camelius Iwuagwu.

The Secretary to the State Government, Cosmas Iwu, made the disclosure in a statement made available to reporters in Owerri on Wednesday.

The governor appreciated the contributions of Iwuagwu to the state Civil Service and wishes him well in his future endeavours.

Uzodinma, however, urged the new Head of State to bring his wealth of experience to bear to his new assignment and enthrone a result-driven and re-energised civil service, to meet the challenges of the digital age.

“His Excellency appreciates the contributions of the former Head of Service, Dr Iwuagwu to the state Civil Service and wishes him well in his future endeavours.

“The governor has equally charged the new Head of Service, Barr. Ucheoma to bring his wealth of experience to bear on his new assignment.

“The governor enjoined him to enthrone a result-driven and re-energised civil service, to meet the challenges of the digital age,” the statement said.

In other news, Uzodinma has declared that operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) are responsible for the killing of 14 youths recently in the state.

He said those killed are not wedding guests returning home from a traditional marriage in Awo-Omamma as being claimed in some reports.

Recall, a viral video circulated on social media showing indigenes of Otulu community, conveying the bodies of the murdered youths to the market square in wheelbarrows.

The locals had accused the Imo State, local security outfit, Ebubeagu of wrongfully labelling the deceased youths as bandits and killing them as they were returning home after attending a traditional marriage ceremony in the area on Sunday evening.

Speaking about the incident, Governor Uzodinma while briefing journalists at the Government House, Owerri after the weekly Security Council meeting, confirmed that operatives of the Nigeria secret police, Department of State Services (DSS) carried out the killings, not Ebubeagu.
