The PUNCH: The camp of the Osun State governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke, is worried over a suit filed by his rival in the Peoples Democratic Party’s primary, Prince Dotun Babayemi, at the Court of Appeal, Akure.


The Guardian: Stakeholders have expressed cautious optimism as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) transits today, insisting that most of the entities under the companies are still loss making sub-subsidiaries. Going by the provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), NNPC had on July 1, 2022, legally transformed into a company that will be regulated under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA).


Vanguard: The Federal Government and workers’ unions in various sectors of the economy were literally at each other’s jugular, yesterday, over the five-month long strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, which has grounded the nation’s ivory towers.


The Nation: An end to the strike by university teachers may be in sight. There were strong indications yesterday that they may get a 100 per cent pay rise. President Muhammadu Buhari has decided to wade into the protracted crisis.


This Day: Last weekend’s governorship election in Osun State, was a keenly contested exercise, which threw up quite a surprise, and further left in its trail, natural expectations – winners and losers – but, with a different mix.


Daily Trust: Terrorists and bandits ambushed troops and attacked civilians in Borno, Plateau and Katsina states between Sunday night and the wee hours of Monday, killing many and abducting others.
