Atiku Speaks On Being Sick

The Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has reacted to a video showing him limping.

Atiku in a statement released through his media aide, Paul Ibe, said he is in good and robust health.

He questioned the objective of the people behind the viral video.

The statement released by the former vice president reads, “Our attention has been drawn to a report and a video in a section of the media purporting to be of an “ailing” Atiku Abubakar being helped strapped to his car seatbelt by an aide.

“Nothing can be further from the truth. For the records, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is in robust good health.”

Rauf Olaniyan Impeached As Oyo State Deputy Governor

The members of the Oyo State House of Assembly have impeached Engineer Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan as the State Deputy Governor.

Naija News understands the lawmakers impeached Olaniyan on Monday around 11.30 am during the house plenary, noting that the impeachment takes immediate effect.

This follows the reading and adoption of the recommendations of a report of the seven-man panel set up by the State Chief Judge, Munta Abimbola to investigate allegations levelled against the deputy governor.

The report was read on the floor by the Majority Leader of the House, Sanjo Adedoyin and Olaniyan was found guilty of all the charges against him.

2023 Presidency: Don’t Plunge The Country Into War – Prophet Iginla Tells Tinubu, APC

The General Overseer of the Champions Royal Assembly, Prophet Joshua Iginla, has appealed to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu to reconsider his Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

The renowned clergy said the single-faith ticket is a sign of war, hence should be addressed before the 2023 general elections.

Prophet Iginla while addressing his Church members over the weekend in Abuja, described Tinubu’s decision as insensitive.

According to him, equity, justice and sensitivity must be the watch of the day if Nigeria would be great again. Iginla stressed that Nigeria does not belong to a set of religions, and urged political big wigs in the country to save the country from the unforeseen.

Osun: Funke Akindele Reacts To APC Defeat

Funke Akindele, Nollywood actress and deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos has congratulated Senator Ademola Adeleke, governor-elect of Osun State.

Speaking via her official Instagram page, the Nollywood actress said that it is a sign that power has changed hands.

She wrote: “Congratulations Senator Ademola Adeleke on your victory as the next Governor of Osun State. Indeed power has changed hands. IMOLE DE!!!

“Sir, you are the light of Osun State and I pray God grants you good health and long life to achieve all your good intentions for the people of Osun. God bless you sir.”

Osun: Reason APC Has Not Reacted To PDP, Adeleke’s Victory – Report

It has been more than 24 hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party winner of the Osun gubernatorial election and the All Progressives Congress, APC is yet to congratulate them.

The PDP flagbearer defeated the sitting governor Gboyega Oyetola in a keenly contested battle.

The former Senator won in 17 of the 30 local government areas in the poll conducted in 3,763 units. Adeleke received 403,371 votes while Oyetola got 375,027.

Oyetola spoke on Sunday but refused to congratulate his challenger.

However, DAILY POST has reported that the APC is yet to issue a congratulatory message because they do not want to preempt the incumbent governor.

The publication said a source told their correspondent that the ruling party is studying the outcome of the election.

Oyo Assembly Approves Bayo Lawal As New Deputy Governor After Impeaching Rauf Olaniyan

The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved the nomination of Adebayo Lawal as the new Deputy Governor of the state.

This follows the impeachment of Engineer Rauf Olaniyan on Monday by the lawmakers.

As earlier reported by Naija News, the lawmakers impeached Olaniyan on Monday around 11.30 am during the house plenary, noting that the impeachment takes immediate effect.

This follows the reading and adoption of the recommendations of a report of the seven-man panel set up by the State Chief Judge, Munta Abimbola to investigate allegations levelled against the deputy governor.

In a swift move, the state legislators have now approved the nomination of Lawal as a replacement for Olaniyan.

It is understood that the State Governor, Seyi Makinde had earlier forwarded Lawal’s name for consideration and approval by the lawmakers.

Reading the Governor’s letter of request, Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin, stated that Makinde’s request is a response to an earlier letter sent by lawmakers to him dated July 18 informing him of the removal of Olaniyan from office.

After some lawmakers spoke about the nomination, the Speaker put the nomination to a voice vote and Lawal was confirmed as the new Deputy Governor.

What Dino Melaye Said About Adeleke’s Victory In Osun Election

Former Kogi West lawmaker, Dino Melaye has hailed the victory of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the just-concluded Osun governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
Naija News recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Adeleke as the winner of the June 16 governorship election.

Adeleke defeated the incumbent governor of the state and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola and thirteen other candidates to emerge victorious.

The PDP candidate won 17 local government areas in the state, while Governor Oyetola won the remaining 13 local government areas.

Reacting in a statement on Sunday, Melaye said that the victory recorded by the PDP and its governorship candidate in the election was well-deserved.

The former lawmaker stated that the win is a good omen for the opposition party and signs of things to come for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in 2023.

Melaye also congratulated Senator Adeleke on his victory and advised him to be magnanimous in victory in the interest of the people of the state and as well justify the confidence reposed in him by way of his election.

The PDP chieftain also felicitated the people of Osun State for the smooth conduct of the election, describing them as the real winners as they have been able to freely choose their leader for the next four years.

Seyi Makinde Reacts As Adeleke Emerges Osun Governor-Elect

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed his happiness over the emergence of Senator Ademola Adeleke as the Governor-elect of Osun State.

In a statement on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa, Makinde stated that Adeleke’s victory in the just-concluded Osun governorship election is a win for the people of the state.

Makinde asserted that the victory has taught all politicians an important lesson that power belongs to the people, stressing that the people’s will has triumphed again.

He said Adeleke’s victory was similar to what happened in Oyo State during the 2019 governorship election when the people exercised their franchise in support of an opposition party.

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Abdullahi Adamu has admitted the challenges bedevilling the country under President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, especially in the area of security.

After seven years in government, Adamu said he can only rate the performance of the incumbent leader with a pass or credit.

Adamu said though the challenges faced are overwhelming, they did not start with Buhari’s government.

Osun: No Moneybag From Bourdillion Can Save You – Lawyer Advises Oyetola

The Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola has been advised by a human rights lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi to concede defeat and congratulate, Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Naija News had earlier reported that Adeleke was declared the winner of the 16th July 2022 governorship election in the state.

Olajengbesi in his reaction said Governor Oyetola would be disgracing himself if he heads to the court to challenge the people’s mandate.

He further stated that no moneybag from Bourdillion can save him from his defeat.

APC Plans Legal Action Against Defecting Lawmakers

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has plans to file a lawsuit against its lawmakers in the National Assembly threatening to dump the party ahead of the 2023 race.

The move of the ruling party is to suspend the lawmakers from the party if they decide to defect.

With the National Assembly resuming on Tuesday, some lawmakers in the ruling party might announce their defection, Naija News understands.

The lawmakers had expressed displeasure after failing to secure the ticket of the party during primaries.

Sources that spoke with Daily Sun said the move to suspend the defecting lawmakers was proposed by the party leadership.

The sources further stated that President Buhari must support the proposal before it could be implemented.

2023: Northern Group Removes Shettima As Patron Over Statement On Peter Obi

A Northern youths group, Coalition of Arewa Youths for Peace and National Development (COAYPANU) has removed the Vice Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Kashim Shettima, as its patron.

Naija News reports that the group made this known in a statement on Sunday issued by its National President, Alhaji Mohammed Gwadabe.

Gwadabe said Shettima’s removal was based on his controversial comment on the capacity of the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

He said the former Borno governor’s removal was with immediate effect and that his statement was not in line with the group’s values.
