The Nigeria Police Force on Sunday reiterated its commitment to ensuring that vote-buying becomes a thing of the past in the country, a statement coming shortly after the conclusion of the Osun State governorship election.

Naija News reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ademola Adeleke winner of the Osun State Governorship election.

Adeleke defeated the incumbent governor of the state and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gboyega Oyetola and thirteen other candidates in the July 16th election.

The PDP governorship candidate was declared the winner at the head office of INEC in Osogbo, the state capital which was used as the collation centre.

Adeleke won 17 local government areas in the state, while the candidate of the APC, Oyetola won the remaining 13 local government areas in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the Police Force following the announcement of the Saturday polls, Force Public Relations Officers, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a Twitter post said any further elections in Nigeria will be a walkover for the security agency, including the 2023 general elections.

Adejobi boasts that the police force has understood the game tricks and is now capable of handling election security in Nigeria.

The FPRO tweeted: “Like I say always, any further elections in Nigeria will be a walk over for us, including d 2023 general elections, as we are capable of handling election security, we got d game tricks now.”

In another post, Adejobi who was reacting to a netizen’s post which says “God bless you sir, but sir please in the next election sir vote-buying must be taken care of to the barest minimum sir we love you and we keep looking out for you sir – @Stingray1o1.

Said: “Fighting Vote buying is not one man’s business. It is for all of us, in fact, more on d side of the electorates, no one will force you to sell your Vote, right and conscience, we can only do a little while the major work is on you people.”
