Nigerian musician, David Adeleke, better known as Davido has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s comment after his uncle, Ademola Adeleke was declared the winner of the just concluded governorship election in Osun State.

Naija News reports that Adeleke who contested under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola in a landslide.

Governor Oyetola who was the standard flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), garnered 375,027 votes during the polls and came second behind Adeleke who polled 403,371 votes to win the election.

Shortly after the declaration of the winner, President Buhari via his official Twitter page congratulated the PDP candidate saying his emergence as the elected governor was a result of the people’s will through the ballot.

Buhari further said that the Osun gubernatorial election was a clear demonstration of the maturity and the commitment of all stakeholders who stood to sustain the country’s electoral process with their integrity.

The Nigerian leader tweeted: “I congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), on his victory in the Osun gubernatorial election. The people of Osun have expressed their will through the ballot.

“This is what democracy is all about: respect for the will of the people.

“The successful conduct of #OsunDecides2022 is a demonstration of the maturity and the commitment of all stakeholders, towards strengthening the integrity of the electoral process in Nigeria.

“I remain fully committed to leaving behind a legacy of credible elections in Nigeria.”

Reacting, Davido retweeted president Buhari’s post and thereafter commented saying “You will leave a LASTING legacy! God bless you for this act alone sir”.
