Shehu Sani Reacts As Tinubu Meets UAE Leadership Over Visa Ban, Others

Former Kaduna central lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the reports that the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has told the British High Commissioner, Catriona Laing to stay away from the southeast region.

Taking to his micro-blogging site, Twitter, Sani on Friday submitted that he believes the threat doesn’t reflect the view of the entire people of the region.

He added that the threat is condemnable.

He wrote: “If actually, the separatist group in the South East has issued threats to the British High Commissioner, Catriona Laing not to visit the South East, then that threat is condemnable; and I believe it doesn’t reflect the views of the people of the region except otherwise stated.”

Naija News recalls the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had warned the British high commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing to stay away from the southeast region.

IPOB in a statement on Thursday by its spokesperson, Emma Powerful said the life of the British diplomat is at risk as some people have planned to assassinate her during her planned visit to the southeast.

The IPOB statement added that the plot to kill her was unveiled by the intelligence arm of the group adding that those behind the plot, plan to blame it on IPOB so as to turn the British government against the Biafra agitators.

Powerful however noted that IPOB is not a violent group and can never be involved in the killing of others but warned Laing in her own safety’s interest to stay away from the southeast and Biafraland to avoid any unfortunate story.
