The Katsina State Police Command has rearrested one of the escapees of Kuje jailbreak, Kamala Lawal Abubakar in Danmusa local government area of the State.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah made the assertion on Friday while parading the suspect and other criminals before pressmen at the State Police headquarters in Katsina.

According to him, the DPO in charge of Danmusa, and his team carried out raids at suspected criminal hideouts in Danmusa LGA and succeeded in arresting the escapee.

He disclosed that “on 14/07/2022 at about 1800hrs, based on credible information, DPO Danmusa, and team carried out raids at suspected criminal hideouts in Danmusa LGA and succeeded in arresting one Kamala Lawal Abubakar, aged 33yrs of Unguwar Sale Quarters, Danmusa LGA, a suspected fugitive from Kuje prison, Abuja.”

However, the statement further disclosed that in the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to have escaped from Kuje Prison, Abuja, during the recent Kuje jailbreak.

The State PPRO added that “Some quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was also recovered in his possession during a police search. The suspect will be handed over to Nigerian Correctional Service, for further necessary action.”

In another development, the Command also succeeded in arresting a suspected gang leader of notorious terrorists and kidnappers, Bello Sale Jino, ‘M’, aged 25yrs of Modoji village, in a hideout at Bakuru village, Katsina.

The statement noted that in the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to being a leader of a kidnap for ransom gang and was in the village based on the invitation of one Mustapha Badamasi, that he should come to the village and take a survey of a rich man in the village, who has plenty of cows.

He revealed that the suspect confessed to have kidnapped many people within Katsina metropolitan and collected ransom ranging from eighty thousand (N80,000) to two hundred thousand (N200,000) naira.

Some of his gang members arrested include (1) Muhammed Ibrahim, ‘M’, aged 25yrs of Sokoto Rima Quarters, Katsina (2) Anas Abdullahi, ‘M’, aged 30yrs of Sabon Gida Quarters, Katsina and (3) Mustapha Badamasi.

The investigation is ongoing”

He also disclosed that the Command has succeeded in busting a notorious syndicate of armed robbers terrorizing Katsina metropolitan area and its environs.

SP Gambo Isah said “nemesis caught up with the duo of one Abdulrazak Isyaku, ‘M’, aged 25yrs and (2) Muhammad Abubakar, ‘M’, aged 18yrs both of Kambarawa, notorious armed robbers, who specialize in breaking into dwelling houses in Katsina and committing armed robbery at night.”
