2023: Shettima Speaks On Tinubu’s Alleged Plan To ‘Islamise Nigeria’

The lawmaker representing Borno Central senatorial district, Kashim Shettima on Friday said the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu has no plan to Islamize Nigeria.

Shettima is the vice presidential candidate of the ruling party ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The former Governor of Borno State in his reaction to Tinubu’s alleged plan to Islamize Nigeria asked if the APC presidential candidate had Islamized his family.

He noted that Tinubu’s wife of over forty years has been a Christian and a pastor at Redeemed Christian Church of God and he did not change her.

Shettima called on Nigerians to look beyond religion in 2023.

The former Governor stated this when he received a visit from an APC group led by a former Nigerian ambassador to the US, Mohammed Hassan.

Shettima said, “They are accusing him of an attempt to Islamise the country. Has he started with Islamising his own family?

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yes, his running mate might be a Muslim, but his life mate for over 40 years is not only a Christian but a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

“He did not enforce his Islamic faith on his children. He was the first governor to hand over mission schools to the owners, and he has groomed people from all walks of life.”
