The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Osun State, Ademola Adeleke is currently troubled over the alleged decision of the incumbent governor of the state, Adegboyea Oyetola, to restrict access to venues where the opposition party had proposed for its mega rally.

PDP is said to have written to the state government to get permission to use the Osogbo City Stadium and Freedom Park, Osogbo for its final mega rally on Thursday (today), Naija News reports.

However, Adeleke’s camp alleged, during the sideline of the National Peace Committee peace accord signing by gubernatorial candidates and their political parties in Osogbo, that Oyetola didn’t respond positively to their request to use the venues.

Adeleke said that the use of either venue for the mega rally became necessary because of the calibre of guests and party bigwigs expected in Osogbo.

“For our mega rally, we are expecting PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and some Governors. I won’t tell you the names of the governors that are coming.

“PDP National Campaign Committee for Osun election is showing commitment to this campaign, but we have been denied access to the stadium and Freedom Park,” Daily Post quoted Adeleke as saying.

The Osun State Government has, however, debunked the report, Naija News understands.

Speaking in defence of Oyetola’s led government, the Osun Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode explained that the said venues had been approved for other programmes before Adeleke’s camp requested access to them.

Recall that the ruling party held its mega rally in the state on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at the Osogbo City Stadium, Osogbo.

The event was witnessed by the APC national leader and Presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, state governors elected under the party’s platform and other party stakeholders.

The PDP, however, is expected to hold their mega rally today with the likes of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar expected to be in attendance.
