President Muhammadu Buhari has been admonished to hand over the leadership of Nigeria to his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, to enable him get the rest he is craving.

Naija News reports that the President in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said on Monday that the presidency has been very tough and he is eager to go.

“I wish the person who is coming after me the very best. I am eager to go. I can tell you it has been tough”, Buhari said.

Buhari, who was addressing some governours of the All Progressives Congress (APC), legislators and political leaders at his residence in Daura, Katsina State, said the North-West had posed more challenges, and some success had been recorded in other regions, North-East and South-South.

Reacting to the leader’s statement, the spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed advised Buhari to kindly resign.

Baba-Ahmed said the leader should resign now and hand over to his VP, stating that things would get even tougher before May 2023 when he is expected to officially hand over.

The former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Secretary told Buhari that it’s not too early or late to throw in the towel now.

“President Buhari told APC Govs that he is looking forward to the end of his tenure, saying it has been tough.

“Who would remind him that he does not need to wait until May 29th, 2023? Who will tell him it looks like things will only get tougher?”, he tweeted.
