Bafarawa Knocks Fayose Over Suport For Southern Presidency

Former Governor of Sokoto State, Attahiru Bafarawa has slammed his former Governor colleague, Ayodele Fayose over his support for the Southern presidency in 2023.

Naija News recalls that Fayose had in a post on his Twitter account on June 30 said it was the turn of the South to produce Nigeria’s next president.

The former Ekiti governor made this known despite the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, being from the North.

He noted that the North has ruled for eight years under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, hence it is the turn of the South to take over power.

In an interview with The Punch, Bafarawa said Fayose was part of the zoning committee that recommended that the PDP should throw its presidential ticket open.

The former Governor added that Fayose was also present at the meeting when the committee sent its recommendation to the National Working Committee and National Executive Committee (NEC).

Bafararwa, however, said it is unfortunate that the former Ekiti governor would come around and condemn the PDP for throwing the presidential ticket open.

He said: “Fayose was a member of the zoning committee. So whatever recommendation that was made, he was there and the recommendation was taken to the National Working Committee and NEC. So it is unfortunate of him to come around and say such a thing.

“He was a member of the committee that made that decision (to throw the presidency open) and I respect him, as a former governor. As far as I am concerned, the PDP is intact. Our candidate is intact.

“Whatever anybody is complaining about, we are in the same party, the same family and if there is any problem, we can resolve it within ourselves.

“It is a family matter which I believe our presidential candidate can resolve.
