Their Sole Intention Was To Weaken APC - Buhari's Ex Aide, Bashir Ahmad Speaks On Tinubu's Running Mate Choice
APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Tinubu and Bashir Ahmad

The former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on new media, Bashir Ahmad has responded to those criticizing the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, for picking a Muslim as his running mate.

Recall that Tinubu on Sunday announced former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the 2023 election.

The Muslim-Muslim ticket bid has been criticised by many Nigerians who expressed concerns that the development is not in agreement with the country’s secularity.

Reacting to the critics via his Twitter, Bashir, who contested for the Albasu/Gaya/Ajingi Federal Constituency seat in the recently conducted primary of the APC but lost to another candidate, said Nigerians were not criticizing Tinubu because of the single-faith ticket but because of the person involved.

Bashir said the opposition party’s intention was to weaken the APC in its stronghold but that they were caught unaware by Tinubu’s choice, which according to him has destroyed their plans.

Bashir tweeted: “The choice of Asiwaju’s running mate wasn’t really the matter, their sole intention was to weaken the APC in its strongholds. Unfortunately for them our party and its leaders are always ahead of them and also immune to their cheap threats and blackmail. Now let’s meet at the PU.”

“If the Tinubu/Shettima ticket is a bad choice, why not take it as another campaign strategy? But only for you to make us understand that the ticket has destroyed all your plans and strategies to the extent that you now abandoned your candidates and concentrate only on Asiwaju,” Bashir said in another tweet.
