10th Senate: Shettima Apologizes Over Christian Better Than Muslim Comment

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNP) has said that the vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Shettima, is not a threat to its presidential flagbearer, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The NNPP National Publicity Secretary, Agbo Major, stated this on Monday while reacting to the statement issued by the APC Deputy Spokesman, Murtala Ajaka.

Naija News earlier reported that Ajaka had stated that the choice of Senator Kashim Shettima as the running mate to the presidential candidate of the ruling party had unsettled the opposition parties.

The APC deputy scribe called on Nigerians to ignore opposition parties’ sentiment on religion, adding that the fear of the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket only existed in the imagination of opposition.

Reacting to the ruling party, Agbo stated that the NNPP is not scared of the choice of Shettima because he does not have any form of credibility.

He added that the choice of Shettima has made the job easier for the NNPP due to his antecedent during his tenure as the Governor of Borno State.

Agbo warned that fielding Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate would be the final nail that would seal the ambition of the former Lagos State governor.

“The choice of Shettima is not an issue to any serious-minded politician in this country. These people are just looking for what to hang on to for survival. The APC knows that their situation is getting worse. The choice of Shettima has made the job easier for the rest of us, especially for my party, because of his antecedent. His antecedent calls for concerns.

“Remember that the Governor who handed over to him accused him in 2017 of being the main sponsor of Boko Haram. It was all over the media. His choice as running mate is the final nail on the coffin of the APC. We don’t see him as a threat or anything to worry about,” he said.
