2023: APC Govs Visit To Wike, Effort In Fultility – Saraki

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki has reacted to the visit of some governors of the All Progressives Congress to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

Saraki on Saturday described their visit to Wike’s residence in Port Harcourt as an effort that would not yield a result.

Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State and Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State met with Wike in Port Harcourt on Friday.

Saraki while addressing newsmen in Ilorin, Kwara State capital after the Eid celebration said the visit of the APC Governors would yield no result.

He described Governor Wike as an important member of the Peoples Democratic Party, adding that the issue in the party would be resolved.

Kuje Jailbreak: Police Apprehend Fleeing Boko Haram Terrorist In Nasarawa

Hassan Hassan, a member of Boko Haram terrorist who escaped from Kuje correctional centre on Tuesday night has been recaptured by the Nasarawa State Police command.

This is coming after the Federal Government published the names and pictures of 64 terrorists, declaring them wanted.

Recall that terrorists on Tuesday night invaded Kuje medium custodial centre and freed members of the Boko Haram, Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP), and other inmates.

The spokesman of the Nasarawa Police command, Ramhan Nansel in a statement released on Saturday said the Boko Haram escapee was apprehended early hours of Saturday.

Details have emerged on how the embattled former commander of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari, and four members of his team escaped unhurt members terrorists attacked the Kuje Maximum Correctional Centre.

Naija News reports that other high-profile inmates at the facility include ex-governor Joshua Dariye of Plateau State; his Taraba State counterpart, Jolly Nyame; a former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina; a former Chairman of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Petroleum Subsidy, Farouk Lawan and others.

Recall that members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) had on Tuesday attacked the correctional facility, freeing 64 terrorists and hundreds of other criminals.

A personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) lost his life while many others sustained injuries.

APC vs PDP: Details Of Wike’s Meeting With Akeredolu, Fayemi, Fayose, Others Revealed

Details have emerged concerning the meeting of three governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

Recall that Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State had led Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State to the closed-door meeting.

Naija News reports that Wike and his loyalists are at loggerheads with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after the conduct of the presidential primary, which produced Atiku Abubakar as the candidate and the emergence of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, as Atiku’s running mate.

Following Atiku’s emergence and his choice of Okowa, some members loyal to Wike have called for the immediate resignation of Senator Iyorchia Ayu as the party’s national chairman.

Wike, who has kept silent since Okowa emerged as the PDP running mate, has been fraternizing with political bigwigs from other political parties.

The APC has now decided to take advantage of the crisis rocking the main opposition party to convince Wike to join the ruling party.

Reports have emerged claiming a former Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, is plotting to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Labour Party before July 15.

A chieftain of the APC who is also a former state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Moshood Salvador is also planning to join the former governor in Labour Party.

According to Western Post, political groups of the two APC chieftains, Akinwunmi Ambode Campaign Organisation (AAMCO) and The Conscience Group (TCG) led by Salvador would officially announce their defection.

It was gathered that the duo has already concluded plans to join the party to contest for the gubernatorial ticket of LP ahead of the 2023 general election.

The abducted former Bayelsa State Commissioner for Special Duties in charge of Federal Projects in the state, Mike Ogiasa, has cried out for help.

Ogiasa, who is reportedly a cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan, was abducted by unknown gunmen on Thursday, June 2.

Naija News gathered that Mike was abducted at Otuogidi in the Ogbia Local Government Area of the state on Thursday, June 2.

Ogiasa, who was whisked away by about eight gunmen, was said to have finished attending a meeting before his kidnap.

The Special Adviser on Power to the Bayelsa State Government is the son of a former traditional ruler of Otuoke community.

2023: PDP Speaks On Gov Wike’s Meeting With APC Govs

The Peoples Democratic Party has reacted to Governor Nyesom Wike’s meeting with some governors of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State on Friday.

The main opposition party in its reaction expressed confidence that the Rivers State Governor would not dump the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba in a chat with Tribune pointed to the fact that Governor Wike has never dumped the PDP for once.

He further stated that Governor Wike’s support and passion for the party have never been in doubt.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that it is not bothered about the meeting between Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and some governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Recall that Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Kayode Fayemi, had led Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State to a closed-door meeting with the Rivers State governor on Friday.

Speaking to The PUNCH on the meeting, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, said the visit was expected since the governors would have issues of common interest to discuss.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday made it a Sallah to remember for some of the residents of Daura his home town as they excitedly lined the streets to cheer him as he made his way back to his residence.

Naija News reports President Buhari joined other Muslim faithful to observe the Eid prayers in his home town of Daura, Katsina State.

After the prayers, the President decided to trek back to his residence from the Eid grounds and many of the townspeople lined the streets to cheer him as he walked.

Though surrounded by a large team of security operatives for protection and safety, Buhari as he walked along the streets acknowledged the shouts and cheers from residents of his home town.

While some just shouted in admiration, others were heard saying ‘sai baba.’

2023: After Dumping APC, Amosun’s Candidate, Akinlade Emerges PDP Governorship Running Mate

The political godson of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Adekunle Akinlade has emerged as the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 election in Ogun State.

Akinlade was announced by the Ogun State PDP chairman, Sikirullahi Ogundele after about two hours of a closed-door meeting with state executive members.

Akinlade was presented with his PDP membership card at the same event and is now officially the running mate to the PDP governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu.

Earlier, Naija News reported that Adekunle Akinlade joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State a few days after dumping the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He cited injustice among other issues for his decision to dump the APC for PDP after losing the APC’s governorship primary held in May to Governor Dapo Abiodun.

In 2019, Akinlade was the Ogun state governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) but returned to the APC in December 2019 after his defeat at the polls.
