There was tension in Owerri, the Imo State on Sunday following the invasion of First Baptist Church by unknown gunmen.

Naija News learned that the gunmen invaded the church around 4:30om and kidnapped a female worshipper, Mrs. Francis Abioye.

A source told Daily Trust that Mrs Abioye, who is the wife of the General Manager, Imo State Zoo, was kidnapped during church service and whisked away.

The source said: “They operated in a Sienna Ash colour tinted glass. They whisked her away immediately they got hold of her.”

Meanwhile, the younger sister of two brothers killed by suspected terrorists has been freed after a huge sum was paid as ransom.

The kidnapped 13-year-old daughter of Pastor Daniel Umaru who was shot and his two sons were killed by the attackers last week in Mubi, Adamawa state was freed early this morning, according to family sources.

“We paid money, a huge amount, before they released her to us in the early hours of today, as of now, both her parents are fighting for their lives at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola, due to gunshot injury and trauma,” sources said.
