Bandits: We Couldn't Celebrate Eid-el-Kabir In Our Villages - Zamfara Locals Lament

Some locals in Zamfara State have claimed that they could not celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir in their respective homes because bandits are in full charge of many communities in the state.

Naija News reports that Muslims across the globe celebrated this year’s Eid-el-Kabir otherwise known as Eid al-Adha on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

However, while many were celebrating in their respective homes, the rural dwellers said their homes were no longer secured so they could not celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir.

Some of the locals who spoke with Daily Post in Gusau, the state capital, described the salaries and allowances being paid to security agencies as a huge loss.

They said the security agencies have failed to take control of the security situation in the State. The locals lamented that in spite of the assurance of the security chiefs of adequate security, they were unable to celebrate their Eid Kabir due to insecurity.

According to one Umar Magami, most of the villagers celebrated their Sallah in Gusau and other urban areas because no community in Zamfara State is secured.

“Every assurance the security agencies are giving was to satisfy their paymasters. The security operatives cannot handle the security challenges in the State.

“All their promises can only be regarded as empty propaganda that can be thrown into another waste paper basket.

“The bandits are killing the security operatives like chickens.

“How can there be peace when the bandits are in charge of so many communities in the State?” He queried.
