2023: PDP Speaks On Gov Wike’s Meeting With APC Govs
The Peoples Democratic Party has reacted to Governor Nyesom Wike’s meeting with some Governors of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State on Friday.
The main opposition party in its reaction expressed confidence that the Rivers State Governor would not dump the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba in a chat with Tribune pointed to the fact that Governor Wike has never dumped the PDP for once.
He further stated that Governor Wike’s support and passion for the party have never been in doubt.
This is coming after the Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayose, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State visited Wike in Port Harcourt on Friday.
Bola Tinubu Returns To Nigeria From France
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has returned back to the country from France.
Naija News reports that Tinubu, a former Lagos State, made his return known in a post on his Twitter handle on Saturday.
He wrote: “Grateful to Almighty Allah for journey mercies.
“Glad to be home and looking forward to what is ahead. Eid Mubarak.”
2023: After Dumping APC, Amosun’s Candidate, Akinlade Emerges PDP Governorship Running Mate
The political godson of Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Adekunle Akinlade has emerged as the deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 election in Ogun State.
Akinlade was announced by the Ogun State PDP chairman, Sikirullahi Ogundele after about two hours of a closed-door meeting with state executive members.
Akinlade was presented with his PDP membership card at the same event and is now officially the running mate to the PDP governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu.
Earlier, Naija News reported that Adekunle Akinlade joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State a few days after dumping the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He cited injustice among other issues for his decision to dump the APC for PDP after losing the APC’s governorship primary held in May to Governor Dapo Abiodun.
In 2019, Akinlade was the Ogun state governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) but returned to the APC in December 2019 after his defeat at the polls.
Speaking after the meeting with PDP leaders at the party’s secretariat along Okemosan, Abeokuta, Akinlade said the decision to run with Adebutu as the deputy governorship candidate for the next election was not easy to make but became a necessary sacrifice in order to save the people of Ogun State from maladministration.
‘2023 Is Still A Contest Between APC And PDP’ – Buhari’s Aide, Ogunlesi
Tolu Ogunlesi, the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital and New Media, has averred that the 2023 election is still a contest between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a post shared on Twitter, Ogunlesi said the two presidential candidates (Buhari and Bola Tinubu) APC have presented in the history of the party were never members of the PDP.
According to Ogunlesi, the Labour party presidential candidate, Peter Obi; vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed and former VP placeholder, Doyin Okupe, were all PDP members.
Recall that Peter Obi contested the 2019 election alongside Atiku Abubakar while Datti Baba-Ahmed sought the 2023 Kaduna PDP governorship ticket.
2023: Wike, Peter Obi, Kwankwaso Will Team Up For Tinubu’s Victory’ – Deji Adeyanju
Social political activist and Lawyer, Deji Adeyanju has opined that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike will work for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election.
This is coming a day after some APC chieftains paid a visit to Wike on Friday, 8th July in Rivers State.
In a post shared on the microblogging platform Twitter, Adeyanju said, Wike and some of his colleagues will not defect from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), to the All Progressives Congress, (APC).
He claimed they would stay in PDP to work for Tinubu’s victory including the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi and New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
According to Adeyanju, Obi and Kwankwaso’s refusal to ally against the APC is a perfect game plan in favour of Tinubu.

The Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 elections, Datti Baba-Ahmed has expressed confidence in the ability of his party to capture the votes of Nigerians.
According to him, the money politics which many of the big politicians heavily rely on to get votes is gradually getting irrelevant.
He argued that contrary to what many believe, mobilization on social media will actually translate to votes in the 2023 elections.

We Will Remove Log From Wike’s Fire – Lamido Speaks As APC Governors Make Move To Woo Rivers State Governor
Former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido has said that Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike had no interest in becoming the Peoples Democratic Party vice presidential candidate in the 2023 general election.
Speaking In an interview with Saturday Punch, Lamido who revealed that he was part of the panel that selected Wike as one of the candidates for the vice president insisted that Atiku was under no obligation to go with their recommendation.
He said: “I was on the panel. Now, the criteria of the members of that committee might have been confined within the walls of the PDP, but they chose somebody for Nigeria, not for the PDP.
“If the whole thing is going to be centred on the PDP, by the time we have an in-house thing, we may lose the election, no problem, but then, whatever we do, we are going to bring it outside and tell Nigerians that this is what we are giving them, that was what we did.

The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso has said that they are still open to receiving Peter Obi as the party’s running mate till the 15th of July
Speaking in an interview with Punch, the former governor of Kano State stated that they have a lot of candidates to choose their vice presidency from and one of them is Obi.
He went on to explain that the party would like a running mate from the South East so they could combat the disturbance in the region.
He insisted that a vice president from the South-East would be able to negotiate with the leaders of the region and come up with a solution to the crisis.
Why We Are Not Threatened By Wike’s Meeting With Akeredolu, Fayemi, Others – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that it is not bothered about the meeting between Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and some governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Kayode Fayemi, had led Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State to a closed-door meeting with the Rivers State governor on Friday.
Speaking to The PUNCH on the meeting, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, said the visit was expected since the governors would have issues of common interest to discuss.
On the return of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP, back to the country, Ologunagba said, “Anytime from now.”
Igbos Are At The Bottom Of National Politics – Kwankwaso
Former Kano State governor and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso has blamed the Igbos for the marginalization they are currently experiencing in the Nigerian political environment.
Speaking in an interview with Punch, the former governor of Kano State explained that the Igbos are good with business, hardworking and industrious but are at the bottom of national politics.
Kwankwaso insisted that they have no strategy hence the reason they have no presidential candidate in the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Peoples Democratic Party.
